3D Realms, Fulqrum Publishing, and Voidpoint announced that the “Aftershock” expansion for *Ion Fury* will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch starting October 16th. It will cost $14.99 or €14.99.
The expansion first launched for PC via Steam and GOG, on October 2, 2023.
Here is an overview of the expansion, via 3D Realms:
High-Speed Action Continues
Picking up right after Shelly defeats Dr. Jadus Heskel, “Aftershock” quickly throws her into more action when explosions interrupt her victory and her enemy makes a daring escape in a huge flying machine. Now equipped with her trusty Loverboy revolver and riding a powerful, weaponized Roadripper hoverbike, Shelly faces her most challenging adventure yet, navigating new areas packed with tougher enemies and powerful new weapons.
Console-Optimized Features
As a fan, I’m really excited about how well this game plays on consoles! They’ve totally improved the controller support, making aiming super precise. The menus are also redesigned and much easier to navigate with a gamepad. And if you’re on Switch, it looks fantastic – smooth and fast at 720p when you’re playing handheld, and even better at 1080p when docked. They’ve really focused on making the fast-paced vehicle combat feel great with a controller, refining the handling and adding visual cues so everything feels smooth and responsive, no matter which console you’re on.
Substantial Content Package
“Aftershock” adds thirteen new levels to Ion Fury, spread across five different areas. It also includes new enemies, weapons – like the powerful Cluster Shot launcher – and a unique Arrange Mode. This mode remixes the original game’s campaign with flipped levels, altered enemy positions, and content from the “Aftershock” expansion.
Build Engine Excellence
Built using the same technology as classic games like *Duke Nukem 3D* and *Shadow Warrior*, Aftershock captures the look and feel of 1990s shooters while adding modern features like improved lighting and drivable vehicles. The game runs smoothly on all platforms, including Nintendo Switch, where it’s been optimized to extend battery life.
Ion Fury is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG.
