The initial installment of the “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” trilogy has been released in Japan, but international viewers have to hold on for a few more weeks. For U.S. fans, it’s important to note that the movie will be shown in cinemas on September 12th, 2025. Since the teaser dropped, several characters have garnered attention from fans, but Zenitsu Agatsuma has caught our attention unexpectedly. Known for his loudness and cowardice when it comes to fighting demons, this Demon Slayer is now staring menacingly at a demon. This shift in Zenitsu’s character was noticeable during the final stage of the Hashira Training, and we’ll finally understand why in the Infinity Castle Arc.
Even though Zenitsu wasn’t particularly fond of combat, he harbored considerable potential. Yet, he was only proficient in the initial form of the Thunder Breathing Style. His mentor, the revered Jigoro Kuwajima, who Zenitsu affectionately considered as a grandfather figure, was the one who imparted this skill to him. Due to his persistent fear, Zenitsu rarely acknowledged his true abilities and would often black out during battles. In fact, many of the victories he’s achieved thus far have been orchestrated by his unconscious mind, leaving him bewildered upon waking up after defeating a demon. However, this pattern is about to change drastically in the climactic arc, as Zenitsu prepares to fully embrace and harness his hidden powers.

Zenitsu Taps Into His True Potential in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

It turns out that Zenitsu, despite knowing just one variant of the Thunder Breathing Style, has managed to perfect it and use it to its fullest potential, never hindering him in any way. The Thunder Breathing Style encompasses a total of six different forms, but Zenitsu has chosen not to learn anything beyond the initial form. What’s remarkable is that he has accomplished something rare among Demon Slayers: crafting his own distinctive style. In the course of the Infinity Castle Arc, Zenitsu engaged in combat with Kaigaku, another disciple of the previous Thunder Hashira.

Kaigaku decided to transform into a demon, an act that ultimately prompted Jigoro to perform Seppuku. Upon discovering his master’s demise during the concluding phase of the Hashira Training, Zenitsu found renewed determination to eliminate Kaigaku, who had just been promoted to Upper Moon Six. In the face of this revelation, he showed no signs of fear and even ventured into the Infinity Castle without panic. Their encounter was swift, with Zenitsu emerging victorious solely due to his application of a seventh form of Thunder Breathing. Since becoming a Hashira requires slaying 50 demons or one of the Twelve Kizuki, this victory could potentially open that path for him.
Though the series didn’t provide an exact count, Zenitsu did manage to slay Kaigaku, meeting the necessary criteria for demon kills. However, as the series concluded and all demons were vanquished, there was no longer a need for the Demon Slayer Corps. Consequently, despite possessing the qualifications, Zenitsu never earned the title of Hashira because the end of the battle ushered in a peaceful era free from demon terror.
