It looks like a fan-favorite character from the Resident Evil series will be appearing in Requiem after all, despite previous indications to the contrary.
Capcom, the game’s developer, had been unclear about plans for a while. Koshu Nakanishi, the director of Requiem, previously explained that including more experienced characters from past Resident Evil games wouldn’t fit the game’s scary atmosphere.
It’s a tale almost as confusing as the Resident Evil timeline itself.
Surprisingly, new artwork for Resident Evil: Requiem showed up on the PlayStation Store’s pre-download screen on Tuesday, December 9th. As reported by IGN, the image features a bearded Leon S. Kennedy – sporting his familiar hairstyle and jacket – alongside the game’s main character, Grace Ashcroft.

Okay, so the new cover art really focuses on Leon, and while they haven’t said he’s the main character, it definitely makes me think he’ll be either the star of the show or have a huge role to play in what happens. It’s a pretty strong hint, honestly!
If this character becomes playable, it would be a refreshing change. We thought they were incredibly scary when we first played, so getting to fight alongside them instead of running away would be a fun twist.
Given everything that’s happening, it seems likely Maggie Robertson might get the chance to play Lady Dimitrescu again!
Additionally, a GameStop listing that has since been taken down revealed that Rosemary Winters, the daughter of Ethan Winters from Resident Evil 7 and Village, will be a playable character in the game.
AesheticGamer aka Dusk Golem posted on X (formerly Twitter) the details of the now deleted listing.

The Deluxe Edition comes with the “Shadow Walker” Costume Pack, plus three special outfits for Rosemary Winters.
This isn’t the first time we’ve played as Rose. The ‘Shadows of Rose’ expansion for Resident Evil Village also starred her, and it was set several years after the main game.
We’ll learn what’s happening soon enough – Resident Evil: Requiem is scheduled to come out in February 2026, and more information will likely be revealed before then.
Perhaps something at The Game Awards 2025? Only time will tell!
