It can be tough to be cute AND a gamer, but at least I don’t have to compromise on my headset anymore

I recently named the Razer BlackShark V3 Pro the best wireless gaming headset for Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, and I truly believed that. However, after testing a new headset, I’m not so sure I’ll be going back to it.

The Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro isn’t necessarily an upgrade over previous models – it’s cheaper by about $70, doesn’t perform as well, and has fewer features. However, its adorable design is surprisingly popular, and I’ve been impressed with the positive reaction to it during my testing over the past few weeks.

After three attempts, Razer has created a cat-eared gaming headset that finally delivers on all fronts, and it’s the best one out there by far. While looks might seem unimportant, the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro is both incredibly cute and performs exceptionally well.

It’s a Razer Kraken V4, but cuter

As a researcher, I was really impressed with the Razer Kraken V4 – I found its design more polished and its features well-rounded. Honestly, the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro feels very similar; it’s essentially a Kraken V4 with the addition of fun, RGB-lit cat ears.

While it’s a bit more detailed than this explanation, here’s the gist: The Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro is very similar to the Kraken V4 in terms of sound, performance, features, and price. However, the Kitty V3 Pro doesn’t feel quite as high-end, it includes cat ears, and its battery life isn’t as long.

This headset is essentially a Razer Kraken V4 with cat ears – a fact made even clearer by the fact that I added cat ears to the Kraken V4 when I first tested it. This raises the question: what’s the point of this new headset?

Razer took a great mid-range gaming headset and added RGB cat ears, and it’s awesome.

If you’re a fan of gaming headsets with cat ears, the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro is the clear winner in terms of looks. It has a cleaner, more comfortable design because the ears are attached directly to the headband, without any bulky straps. Plus, the customizable RGB lighting adds a lot, and it can even sync with your games or voice chat if you stream.

This headset is all about looks, designed for gamers who enjoy fun accessories like cat ears. While it’s a pretty specific product, Razer built it on a solid headset base and made smart choices to maximize its quality for the price.

I also love the variety of colors it comes in. I’ve tried the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro in white and pink, and both look great. I think the white version is the best, particularly because the RGB lights on the earcups and ears look really crisp and clean.

Not the most premium, but great all around

Seeing how similar this headset is to the Razer Kraken V4, I don’t need to break down every facet.

The 40mm drivers deliver great sound quality for both gaming and music. The retractable microphone ensures clear communication, and the headset boasts a long-lasting battery – lasting for many hours if you turn off the RGB lights. Razer Synapse software offers a wide range of customization options, and you can easily switch between different audio profiles directly on the headset. It connects wirelessly with both Razer’s HyperSpeed technology and Bluetooth, and overall performance is solid.

The headset has more RGB lighting thanks to the attachable cat ears, which will drain the battery faster than the Kraken V4. It’s priced similarly, and Razer had to make some compromises to meet that price point.

When it comes to how well it’s made, the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro feels solid for its price range. However, the materials and overall build quality, especially the synthetic leather earcups, don’t quite feel as high-end as those on the standard Kraken V4.

The Kraken Kitty V3 Pro isn’t perfect, like many headsets in its price range. It can’t combine audio from multiple sources, which isn’t surprising for a headset under $200, and swapping between Razer’s wireless mode and Bluetooth can sometimes be a bit tricky.

The headset has a complicated layout with many buttons and dials, making it take some time to learn how to use. It’s also disappointing that there isn’t a version specifically designed for Xbox, especially since I recently tested a similar headset, the Razer BlackShark V3 Pro, that did have one.

Kraken Kitty V3 Pro review: My final thoughts

✅You should buy this if …

  • You want a quality gaming headset with proper RGB-lit cat ears.
  • You’re tired of cute headsets compromising on features or performance.
  • You’re looking for a great headset that comes in more than just black.

❌You should not buy this if …

  • You don’t care about cat ears on your headset (why are you here?).
  • You prioritize performance and features far more than aesthetics.

Razer has significantly updated its Kraken Kitty headset with the new V3 Pro, which arrives over two years after the previous version. The changes are noticeable – it’s now more stylish, affordable, and feature-packed, plus it’s wireless, making it a big improvement overall.

We’ve moved away from interchangeable ear designs, which some people will be disappointed about, but the new Kraken Kitty V3 Pro is more widely appealing than previous versions. It’s the best Kitty headset yet, and while I’d personally love to see an even more high-end model, I understand why Razer chose to make this the top-of-the-line option.

I’m really enjoying this headset – honestly, I might even prefer it to my previous one, the BlackShark V3 Pro, even though that one was considered higher-end. It’s that good!

Honestly, I enjoy this headset so much that I might actually prefer it over my Razer BlackShark V3 Pro, even though the Razer is generally better in most ways.

The Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro is a fun, wireless gaming headset for anyone who loves a cute aesthetic, and it’s currently available for $179.99 directly from Razer. Razer is even thinking about branding it separately from the Kraken line, but I’m happy with it as it is for now.

Razer now offers the Kraken Kitty V3 X, a more affordable headset priced at $59.99 on Razer.com, making it a great option for kids or anyone looking for a budget-friendly choice. Interestingly, Razer decided to continue selling the older Kraken Kitty V2 BT instead of releasing a model between the V2 and V3.
