From the start, IT: Welcome to Derry signaled how the show would handle future seasons. Because the story spans 27 years between appearances of Pennywise the Clown, new seasons couldn’t come out every year – the main villain would be inactive for long periods. Even if the creators hadn’t already stated that each season would take place in a different time period and feature a new, frightening version of Pennywise, the opening credits made it clear by referencing key events from the IT story, like The Bradley Gang Massacre and the Kitchener Ironworks explosion.
The first season finale of IT: Welcome to Derry made it clear that IT doesn’t experience time like humans do, and will use its knowledge of past events to its advantage. The show has already used flashbacks, mostly set in 1908 with a quick look at 1935, to introduce characters who will reappear. A recently discovered deleted scene might hint at a major role for one of the characters we met in Season 1 as the story continues.
IT: Welcome to Derry Season 2 May Expand Terri Bainbridge’s Story

Alixandra Fuchs, who played Terri Bainbridge in Welcome to Derry, recently shared a deleted scene on social media. The scene features Fuchs alongside Clara Stack as Lilly and hints at a potentially larger role for Terri in Season 2, which would likely require a younger actress to play her.
Lilly is sitting with her mother on the couch and asks about her childhood. When her mother asks for clarification, Lilly specifically asks if things like the recent tragedy at the Derry movie theater – as seen in the first episode of “Welcome to Derry” – happened when her mother was growing up. This leads Terri to eventually share her experiences with Lilly.
Every town has its problems, and Derry was no exception. When I was growing up, alcohol was prohibited, but people still found ways to make, sell, and even fight over it – and some of them were right here in Derry. So, naturally, there were occasional issues.
Terri is clearly alluding to the infamous Bradley Gang Massacre of 1935, when a group of criminals hid out in Derry and were killed by the townspeople – possibly with help from Pennywise. This leads Lilly to wonder if the strange events her mother experienced as a child involved a clown. Terri’s response is a distant gaze, suggesting she’s remembering unsettling encounters with an evil clown. However, she quickly dismisses the thought, reassuring Lilly that bad things happen, but they should focus on the positive, and reminding her that she, Lilly, is a good thing. You can watch the scene for yourself in the link below.
Behind the scenes footage from the deleted scenes of ‘IT: Welcome to Derry’ (Episode 6) reveals that Lily’s mother, Teresa Bainbridge, will be a key character in Season Two. The season is set 27 years before the events of 1962, and Teresa was Lily’s age during the infamous Bradley Gang Massacre.

As a huge fan of the first season of ‘Welcome to Derry,’ I’m really hoping they give Terri Bainbridge a bigger role in Season 2. What I loved about the first season was how it expanded the world of ‘IT’ with all these little details and backstories, making the whole story richer. Giving Terri more screen time and developing her story feels like a natural way to continue that trend. Plus, if we see her when she’s younger, we might even get to meet Lilly’s dad and her husband, Morris Bainbridge, which would be amazing!
The scene might have been cut because Terri’s part in the show isn’t expected to be very large. The creators likely didn’t want to hint at a bigger role for her than they planned. Terri is one of several characters known to have lived in Derry in 1935, along with Rose and Mrs. Kersh, and they’ll probably appear in future episodes. While HBO hasn’t officially renewed IT: Welcome to Derry for another season yet, all the necessary elements for continuing the story are in place.
