Haluk Mentes, who leads Marvel Games, recently discussed the new fighting game, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, being developed by Sony and Arc System Works.
In a Game Informer interview, Mentes spoke very positively about the partnership between his team and the game’s publisher and developer.
As others have noted, collaborating with ArcSys and PlayStation has been fantastic,” says Mentes. He also highlights the game’s distinctive anime visuals and its excellent tag-team fighting system.
He explained that they aimed to blend the classic look of Marvel’s heroes with the unique artistic style of Arc System Works. According to Mentes, they immediately began challenging themselves creatively to ensure the game had a distinctly Arc System Works feel.
I especially love the design of Iron Man in the game – it’s really distinct, yet you immediately know who it is. We’re very excited about Marvel Tōkon, and we think players will love it when it releases next year.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is launching as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, with a PC version expected to follow in 2026.
This PlayStation game is played with two teams of four players. During a match, you build your team by selecting characters, and then switch between them to use each one’s special abilities and win.
We haven’t had much of a look at the game so far, and we’re eager to find out about new characters.
There’s a chance we might see Marvel Tokon at the upcoming State of Play Japan event, but it’s still unconfirmed and we’ll have to wait for more details.
