This April, HIDIVE will release a major new anime featuring the reincarnated spirits of historical geniuses like Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton. The series is part of HIDIVE’s Spring 2026 lineup, building on the exciting new exclusives they already debuted this winter. Notably, HIDIVE is also co-producing this upcoming show, signaling even bigger plans for new anime releases.
The anime series Petals of Reincarnation, based on the manga by Mikihisa Konishi, is coming this April. It’s a collaboration between HIDIVE and Pony Canyon, and HIDIVE recently released a new trailer and poster giving fans a preview of the exciting story about reincarnated characters. You can watch the trailer and find more details about the anime below.
When Does Petals of Reincarnation Come Out?
The anime series Petals of Reincarnation is scheduled to premiere in April 2026, though an exact release date hasn’t been announced yet. Outside of Japan, it will be available to stream exclusively on HIDIVE in the United States, Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Shun Kudo will direct the anime at Benten Film, with Atsuo Ishino writing the series composition, Haruna Kato designing the characters, and Kohta Yamamoto composing the music for Pony Canyon.
The voice cast for the upcoming anime already included Shoya Chiba as Toya Senji, Wakana Maruoka as Haito Luo Buffett, and Ayane Sakura as John V Neumann. Now, several new actors have joined the team: Haruka Shiraishi will voice A. Einstein, Kaito Ishikawa will be I. Newton, Reina Ueda will play F. Nightingale, Shugo Nakamura will voice Hiroshi Funasaka, and Marina Inoue will play Jubei Mitsuyoshi. The anime promises a surprising and unpredictable story, centered around a truly unexpected villain.
What Is Petals of Reincarnation About?

The anime Petals of Reincarnation centers around a mysterious object called the ‘Branch of Reincarnation,’ which supposedly gives people the skills from their past lives – but only if they cut their own throat with it. The story follows Toya Senji, a teenage boy who feels inadequate compared to his talented older brother. He hopes academic success will help him find his own gift, but even consistently scoring high on national practice tests doesn’t bring him fulfillment.
Okay, so here’s where things really get interesting! Toya unexpectedly runs into a classmate, Haito Luo Buffett, and she’s not who she seems. She’s a ‘Returner’ – someone who’s brought back skills from a past life using this thing called the Branch of Reincarnation, and she’s battling a serial killer! It’s wild because people from the past are being reborn with their old talents, but it’s not just heroes – some seriously evil figures from history are coming back as villains in the story. That’s a huge part of why I’m so excited for everyone to check it out on HIDIVE this Spring – the bad guys are genuinely terrifying!
