As a huge movie fan, it’s a little frustrating waiting for Edgar Wright’s take on The Running Man to hit theaters! It feels like everyone but us has seen it already – Stephen King himself has, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger! Now I’m hearing all sorts of big-name directors have gotten a sneak peek too. I just want my turn to see it!
As a huge movie buff, I was really fascinated to hear that Paramount held a special screening of The Running Man last week. Apparently, it was packed with some seriously big names – directors like Taika Waititi, Jordan Peele, Ti West, Joseph Kosinski, Barry Jenkins, and even legends like Joe Dante and Walter Hill were there! Phil Lord actually tweeted about it, so it definitely happened, and it sounds like everyone had a great time revisiting this classic.
We’re so impressed with our friend Edgar’s new film, #RunningMan! It’s incredibly original, heartfelt, and full of unexpected moments. The film’s core message really resonated with us, and we thoroughly enjoyed it – especially the powerful and clever way the story unfolded at the end.
Lord also praised Glen Powell, saying he gave a fantastic performance and playfully calling him “Hollywood’s hardest working good guy.” He was very enthusiastic about The Running Man, and judging by the reactions so far, it seems everyone else who saw it loved it too.
Paramount screened the movie for a lot of well-respected directors, which suggests they believe it’s a good film.
The positive reactions to the film continue to pour in, mirroring comments from other prominent figures. Glen Powell shared that Arnold Schwarzenegger described it as “incredible,” while Stephen King called it “fantastic” and likened it to a modern take on Die Hard. King is known for being honest about adaptations of his work, so his praise is particularly meaningful. Both Schwarzenegger and King are highly respected voices, and their endorsements will likely appeal to both fans of the original book and the first movie adaptation.

As a huge Stephen King fan, I’ve been really happy with the adaptations we’ve seen this year, especially with The Long Walk getting so much love. Now, The Running Man is taking a different approach, but from what I’ve heard, it’s shaping up to be a really thought-provoking film.
As a huge movie buff, when filmmakers I admire like Phil Lord talk about a film, I definitely pay attention – even if I’m not totally familiar with the movie itself, like The Running Man. And when it comes to Edgar Wright? The guy consistently delivers! Seriously, it feels like he’s never made a misstep. He’s built up such an amazing filmography, and everything I’ve heard suggests The Running Man will be another wonderfully weird and fantastic addition to it.
I’m really looking forward to seeing The Running Man next week. Everyone involved is so talented, and the early reviews are creating a lot of excitement. If it lives up to the hype, it could be a fantastic movie.
