Following an investigation by ITV, Gino D’Acampo is now dealing with accusations of bullying and intimidating behavior.
ITV fired the television presenter earlier this year following numerous claims of wrongdoing over a twelve-year period. He strongly denied all of the accusations.
More people are now speaking out with accusations, including Sue Fowler, the head of production for the 2022 show, Gino’s Italy: Like Mamma Used to Make.
ITV reports that D’Acampo has denied the claims made against him, but hasn’t yet released an official statement.
I was really worried when I saw one of our crew members start to struggle on set in Naples. He just suddenly seemed to lose strength in his legs, and his eyes rolled back a bit. He was sweating a lot and looked incredibly pale – it was a scary moment for all of us.
The production team called an ambulance because they thought a crew member was experiencing a heart attack.
Fowler reports that during the incident, D’Acampo suggested they should “package the person up and return them, similar to how Amazon Prime delivers packages.”
She reported that he continued by saying, “Life goes on. If anyone truly cares about this project, they’ll come with me to the beach and start filming immediately. Those who aren’t interested can remain here.”
The crew member who fell ill eventually recovered.
Fowler said she was “absolutely distraught” and “horrified” by the comment D’Acampo allegedly made.
She said she found Antonio Carluccio’s co-star very intimidating and a bully, and that he often embarrassed people. She also stated that the crew was afraid of him.
So, the team working on the show actually put together a report about what happened, and it was done by the production company, Betty TV. Basically, they documented the whole thing as it unfolded, which is good to have on record, you know?

Not knowing if her concerns had been shared with ITV, Fowler asked someone else to forward her complaint to the broadcaster without revealing her identity.
An ITV lawyer replied to the email, expressing regret for the distress the situation had caused to those affected.
They confirmed that the issues with Gino’s behavior during the shoot, as you described in your email, haven’t been seriously challenged.
ITV’s legal team also confirmed that before Gino participates in any future projects with other companies, he received a reminder about how to communicate properly and what behavior is expected on set.
The lawyer stated that D’Acampo had finished required online courses covering workplace harassment and bullying, as well as mental health awareness.
Fowler explained to ITV News that her complaint didn’t lead to much change, as ITV prioritizes the revenue Gino D’Acampo generates and hasn’t taken action against his behavior.
His behavior wasn’t just accepted, it was actually encouraged. He received more opportunities and was put in charge of more projects as a result. While Gino faced no consequences, I did.
ITV News included an interview with a crew member who wished to remain unnamed. He said that while working on an ITV cooking show in 2010, the TV chef reportedly used abusive language towards him.
A representative from Betty TV stated the company prioritizes the well-being of its employees. They’ve thoroughly investigated the recent incident and confirmed they have established procedures to handle such situations.
He stated that D’Acampo expressed strong dissatisfaction with his work, reportedly grabbing his shoulders and using highly offensive language, specifically saying he had made him look bad.
He said D’Acampo yelled directly at him, then pushed him aside while shouting an expletive before walking away in anger.
Honestly, watching that scene, I really felt for the character. He described feeling utterly humiliated and insignificant – like he just wanted to disappear. It was a powerfully vulnerable moment, and the actor conveyed that sense of wanting to vanish completely. It really hit me how deeply affected he was.
A crew member, who wished to remain unnamed, said he was afraid to come forward earlier because he worried about facing consequences.
ITV News interviewed multiple individuals who shared positive stories about working with D’Acampo.
ITV has responded to concerns about Gino D’Acampo’s behavior by investigating and resolving any issues that were brought to their attention, according to a spokesperson.
We don’t discuss specific situations. However, if anyone reports concerning behavior to us, whether it happened in the past or is happening now, our Complaints team will investigate it.
