I’ve been waiting for this Flight Sim joystick for months, and it’s finally launching this weekend — could the “Foxtrot” be perfect?

Microsoft Flight Simulator has quietly become a popular game, especially among PC players with a strong and loyal fanbase. It reached a wider audience when the game was updated as MSFS 2020 and then released on Xbox consoles through Game Pass, with the newest version being MSFS 2024. I’ve always encouraged my friends to try simulator games, but the cost of equipment and the game’s intense realism often discouraged them.

While top-of-the-line flight sticks can provide an incredibly immersive experience – if you’re willing to spend the money – it’s definitely possible to find affordable options too. I recently got a firsthand look at Honeycomb Aeronautical’s newest joysticks and yokes, and they proved just that.

I’ve already tested the ‘Foxtrot Aviation Stick’ from Honeycomb, a $149.99 joystick designed to bring a realistic flight experience to Microsoft Flight Simulator and other similar games. It performed very well! It will be available starting this Friday, October 31st, and it’s not the only new aviation product coming out soon.

Honeycomb’s Foxtrot is coming on October 31

I admit I’m partial to the Foxtrot – I really enjoyed my short time with it last August. It’s launching on the same day as the Sierra TPM Module, which costs $249.99 and lets you realistically control propeller planes. While it’s cool for dedicated hobbyists to have lots of separate controls, I’m especially excited about the idea of a simple, all-in-one joystick for people new to flight simulation.

We’ve always aimed to bring high-quality flight simulation equipment to all levels of users, whether they’re just starting out or are experienced pilots.

Honeycomb says the Foxtrot flight stick uses a sophisticated gimbal system and precise 16-bit Hall Effect sensors. It’s also designed to be comfortable for both right- and left-handed users. Priced at $150, the Foxtrot will face competition, but based on my early testing, it looks like a promising choice for flight sim enthusiasts.

I like affordable racing wheels for the same reason simulator games are becoming popular with so many people. And there’s more good news: I’ll be testing out a sample of the new Foxtrot wheel soon.

I’ll soon have dedicated time in my office to thoroughly test the product after extended play sessions – expect some detailed impressions! I’m incredibly excited, but I need to approach this professionally and give the Alpha, Bravo, Foxtrot, and Sierra versions the attention they deserve. Honeycomb’s Chief Product Officer even caught me beaming when I first tried them out.
