I’ve Been Wondering If F1 Would Get A Sequel, And I’m So Here For Joseph Kosinski’s Comments About Reuniting With Lewis Hamilton And Brad Pitt

It’s been about six months since Joseph Kosinski’s F1 was added to Warner Bros.’ 2025 film lineup, and became a box office success. If you’ve been curious about the future of the film – which appealed to both new and dedicated Formula 1 fans – you’ll be interested in what Kosinski has to say about a possible sequel.

Director Joseph Kosinski recently spoke with The Wrap about his Golden Globe-nominated film, which features Brad Pitt as a former Formula 1 racer getting another shot at success and personal growth. Kosinski mentioned potential future projects and also suggested Pitt himself has some exciting plans in the works.

Absolutely. It’s exciting to consider what Sonny Hayes will do next. The film subtly suggests the Baja 1000 as a possibility, and Brad has shared some really compelling ideas with me.

If you need a reminder, the movie F1 concludes with Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, achieving his first Formula 1 victory. However, he surprisingly decides to leave racing and pursue a different challenge. He trades the world of Formula 1 for the Baja 1000 – a tough, competitive, and risky off-road race across the deserts of Baja California, Mexico.

The first movie was a huge success, both financially and critically, making it almost certain that Warner Bros. and Apple Films will team up for a sequel. Brad Pitt already has some ideas for the next film, and given how much money he made on the first one, it likely won’t take much to get him on board.

Kosinski didn’t share details about Brad Pitt’s ideas for a sequel, but I’m excited to see what they create together. I’m hoping the next film includes the off-road racing hinted at in the first movie, before returning to the Formula 1 circuit.

Joseph Kosinki Is Also Working With F1 Legend Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton, the famous Formula 1 driver, wasn’t able to appear in Top Gun: Maverick, but he played a significant role in the making of the F1 documentary. He contributed so much to the project that he was ultimately credited as a producer.

Lewis Hamilton, a real Formula 1 driver who participated in some of the thrilling racing scenes in the movie, seems to be collaborating with director Joseph Kosinski and Brad Pitt on a potential second film. Kosinski shared this information with The Wrap, stating:

Lewis Hamilton is visiting this weekend, and I’m planning to meet with him and Brad on Sunday. We’ll likely brainstorm some ideas together.

Honestly, I have no idea what brilliant ideas those three came up with when they started brainstorming, but whatever it was, it needs to be made! I’m really hoping they actually follow through with it – it sounds amazing, and we desperately need to see it happen.

You can now stream the movie F1 on Apple TV, whether you’re a longtime fan or just discovering it after missing the IMAX release.
