Jack Black Shares Sweet Photos for 20th Anniversary With Tanya Haden

Jack Black is marking a special milestone.

Jack Black, known for his role in School of Rock, marked 20 years of marriage to Tanya Haden by posting a look back at their relationship and happy memories together.

“20 years!” Jack captioned his Instagram post on Feb. 22. “Happy anniversary my love. @tanyahaden.”

The 56-year-old posted over a dozen photos and videos, featuring three heartwarming pictures of him with his wife. One showed Jack and Tanya smiling at each other, and another captured Tanya, 54, sitting on Jack’s lap while he held her close.

A nostalgic photo shows the star of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Tanya meditating outdoors. Their two sons, Samuel “Sammy” Black, now 19, and Thomas “Tommy” Black, now 17, were sitting on their laps. The young boys playfully copied their parents, closing their eyes and holding their arms out in a meditative hand position.

The presentation also featured photos of Tanya, a musician and the daughter of the late jazz legend Charlie Haden. The pictures showed her happy and relaxed – swinging at the beach, enjoying the pool, cozy in the snow, and with her sons when they were babies. There were also two short videos of Tanya playfully dancing and drumming.

The couple generally prefers to keep their relationship out of the public eye, but they originally met as teenagers at Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California. They didn’t become a couple until they ran into each other again at a friend’s birthday party fifteen years later.

I was on the Armchair Expert podcast in August 2024, and I was telling the story of how she actually approached me. The actor, known for his role in Holiday, explained they didn’t feel marriage was necessary, saying, ‘We just don’t really believe in the idea of a marriage contract.’ However, when his partner became pregnant, his brother urged him to propose. He realized his brother had a point, got down on one knee, and she happily accepted.

Celebrating 72 years together in January, she told People magazine, “We’re very happy.” She and her husband enjoy simple things like reading the New York Times, making Cameo videos, and attending conventions, but most of all, they cherish each other’s company and are always willing to support one another.
