Jack Quaid Details “Insane” Time Working With Meghan Markle on Movie

Meghan Markle is ready to make her royal return to acting.

Okay, so everyone’s buzzing about Meghan Markle’s return to acting! After a break of about eight years, she’s making a cameo in a new rom-com called Close Personal Friends, and I’ve been hearing from her co-star, Jack Quaid, about what it’s like working with her. He’s kept it pretty simple, but shared a quick take on their time on set – and honestly, that’s all we need right now! It’s exciting to see her back, and it sounds like she’s fitting right in.

As The Boys actor told Entertainment Tonight in an interview published March 20, “It was insane.”

Jack, son of Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, said he really enjoyed working with his co-stars Lily Collins, Brie Larson, and Henry Golding.

Being part of this group has been amazing. Honestly, every single day on set felt like we were all just trying to make each other laugh – it was the best atmosphere!

Meghan Markle will return to acting in a new project called Close Personal Friends. This will be her first acting role since she left the TV show Suits in 2018 to prepare for her royal duties and wedding to Prince Harry.

When she left the show after seven seasons, she didn’t view it as a sacrifice. She simply described it as a new direction, telling the BBC that she saw it as ‘just a change’.

Reaching 100 episodes felt like a major accomplishment, and I was really proud of the work I did on the show. That felt like a natural point to step back and start collaborating with Harry, as we discussed.

Since becoming a mother to Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, with Prince Harry, Meghan has made it clear she doesn’t intend to return to acting as a full-time career.

In 2022, she told Variety that she was finished and didn’t plan to return, though she left the door slightly open by saying, “never say never.”

How would Meghan react if her and Prince Harry’s children wanted to pursue acting careers?

She said, “That’s wonderful!” Becoming a parent makes you really want your children to discover what truly makes them happy.

As a mom, I always want to encourage my kids to pursue their passions, and if that leads them to the entertainment industry, that’s wonderful. But it’s also a tough world, and I want them to know that opportunity only gets you so far. Real success takes hard work, dedication, and genuine talent. Ultimately, my husband and I are focused on raising well-rounded, kind, and creative individuals – that’s what truly matters to us.

He explained to Sky News in 2015 that you can’t rush things like starting a family, and it will happen naturally when the time is right. While he was asked if his niece, Princess Charlotte’s birth, made him consider settling down, he admitted he’d love to have children, but understood there’s a natural process to it all.

Meghan purchased a Cartier French Tank watch years ago as a future gift for her daughter. She remembered feeling incredibly excited when the TV show Suits was renewed for a third season, so she treated herself to the two-tone watch. She had it engraved with ‘To M.M. From M.M.’ and intends to pass it down to her daughter someday, as she shared with Hello! magazine in 2015.

Prince Harry has often been asked about becoming a father, a topic that, like his parents’ marriage, has followed him throughout his life. He once told People magazine, shortly before he met Meghan Markle, that he’d sometimes feel ready to have children while traveling, but at other times he’d feel hesitant and wasn’t in a hurry. He admitted there were moments when the idea of becoming a parent actually put him off.

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement in 2017, they did an interview together. During the conversation, they were asked about having children. Harry said they hoped to start a family soon, and Meghan smiled in agreement.

Meghan described becoming a mother after Archie was born as ‘magic.’ She added that she felt incredibly lucky to have her two wonderful sons.

After Archie was born in May 2019, Prince Harry excitedly shared how wonderful becoming a father was. He said he couldn’t imagine a more amazing experience and expressed deep admiration for mothers. He and Meghan were overjoyed and thankful for all the kindness and support they received, and wanted to share their happiness with everyone.

During a 2019 speech at the National Youth Mentoring Summit, Harry spoke about what he’d learned since becoming a parent. He emphasized the significant impact of role models, even those who don’t realize they’re inspiring someone. He explained that these individuals can motivate others to be kinder, more successful, and make a bigger difference. Harry connected this to his own experience as a father, noting that his son is always observing and learning from his actions, and may one day follow his example.

In 2020, Prince Harry explained that his child is his top priority, followed closely by his work. He and his wife are committed to doing everything they can to contribute to a better world.

Despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, Harry and Meghan found a positive side: more quality time with their son, Archie. Meghan explained in October 2020 that without the pandemic, they would have been busier with travel and work, and would have missed out on precious moments watching Archie grow. She described it as a period of valuable family time.

Harry shared that he and Meghan were present for all of Archie’s major milestones – learning to walk, running for the first time, and even his first tumbles.

In May 2021, Meghan appeared on TV for a special event called VAX Live, hosted by Global Citizen. She spoke about being pregnant and how happy she and her husband were to soon have a daughter. She shared, “We’re so excited to welcome our daughter and feel the same joy as millions of other families.” She also expressed hope that her daughter would grow up empowered to help lead the world, alongside other young women and girls.

She explained that the future success of our leaders – and all of us – hinges on the choices we make today and the steps we take to build a fair, kind, and thriving future for everyone.

Meghan briefly appears in an episode of the Apple TV+ series created by her husband and Oprah, called The Me You Can’t See. While on screen, she seems to honor her expanding family by wearing a shirt with the message, “Raising the Future.”

I was so thrilled to hear that Harry and Meghan welcomed their little girl! They shared the wonderful news on their Archewell Foundation website, and honestly, it just warmed my heart. They said they were blessed with a daughter, Lili, on June 4th, and that she’s even more amazing than they could have dreamed. They also expressed how grateful they are for all the love and good wishes they’ve received from people all over the world. It’s just lovely to see how happy they are, and I’m sending them all my best during this incredibly special time for their family.

Meghan Markle’s first children’s book, The Bench, will be released on June 8, 2021. The book celebrates the bond between fathers and children, seen through a mother’s eyes. Meghan shared that it began as a poem she wrote for her husband on Father’s Day shortly after their son, Archie, was born, and eventually evolved into the story it is today.

In an October 2021 letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer, Meghan explained why she supported paid parental leave in the U.S. She described feeling both incredibly happy and a bit overwhelmed when her daughter was born, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic was disrupting normal life in hospitals and schools at the time.

Unlike many new parents, we didn’t face the difficult decision of returning to work shortly after our baby was born. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay home with her during those crucial early months, fully focusing on our children and family. This meant we avoided the stressful choices so many parents have to make regarding childcare, work, and healthcare every day.

Meghan explained that no family should ever have to make such difficult choices. No one should be forced to choose between working to support their family and being able to care for a child or a sick loved one – or even themselves, which a good paid leave program would prevent.

In April 2022, Harry explained on TODAY that it was very difficult to balance being a parent with working from home.

He mentioned that Archie interrupts their Zoom calls more than anyone. He added that Archie is often on those calls, which is good.

Harry realized he was already seeing his own playful wit in his son. He explained, “I always make an effort to maintain that,” and added, “I think a bit of mischievousness is what keeps you feeling young at heart.”

Meghan admitted she was concerned for her—and everybody else’s—kids in the age of social media.

In an October 2023 talk at the Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit, focused on mental wellness in the digital age as part of World Mental Health Day, she shared that being a mother is the most important part of her life, second only to being a wife to Harry.

She continued, saying she feels lucky her children are still young, so this issue isn’t something they’re facing right now. However, she’s also worried about how things are changing and knows they’ll eventually have to deal with it.

Being a mom, I totally get what Meghan means when she says the days fly by but the years just disappear. And honestly, it feels like everyone—everyone—is dealing with the craziness of the internet and social media these days. I think deep down, all we really want is to feel safe online, you know? It’s just… everyone deserves that peace of mind.

During a visit to Lightway Academy in Abuja, Nigeria in May 2024, Meghan told a class of kindergarteners about her daughter, Lili. She explained that Lili is very small for her age, and is about to turn three. Meghan shared a sweet moment when Lili recently looked at her and realized she could see her own reflection, saying, ‘Mama, I see me in you!’

Meghan explained that the other person was being very direct. However, Meghan interpreted those words personally, feeling a strong connection and mutual understanding. She realized, ‘I recognize myself in you, and you recognize yourself in me.’
