There’s nothing euphoric about Jacob Elordi’s recent encounter with the paparazzi.
Actor Billy Zane, known for his role in Frankenstein, had a disagreement with photographers at the Gare du Nord train station in Paris on December 10th. He was upset about being photographed without his consent.
A photographer complimented the 28-year-old, but then immediately removed an earbud to express his disagreement.
In a video posted to Instagram on December 10th, he told the person he was speaking to, “You’re making my life very difficult, and I don’t have feelings for you anymore.”
Jacob, dressed in black with sunglasses and a baseball cap to avoid attention, was led through the old station. He ended up waiting for an elevator, and that’s where he spoke further with the photographers who were present.
He went on, saying, “It’s incredibly difficult to live my life with all of you constantly making things harder.” He repeated, “You all make it so hard for me.”
Ever since becoming famous quickly, Jacob has openly discussed the difficulties of being a public figure.
He described his sudden fame after appearing on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, saying it felt like waking up in a completely new reality. “The internet is crazy,” he said in a November 14th interview. “It was scary to see it impacting the real world so directly.”
Jacob described feeling constantly watched, to the point where his life felt staged, like a personal reality show. He explained, “It felt like when I’d go to the coffee shop, I was living in The Truman Show.”
Despite the challenges of being famous, the Australian actor is thrilled with how his acting career is going. At a showing of his latest movie, Frankenstein, directed by Guillermo del Toro, Jacob remembered being deeply moved by the encouragement he received from his family.

He recounted a pivotal moment during a trip to Venice with his family. While receiving applause, he noticed his parents, sister, and long-time agent standing behind him. In that instant, he felt a profound sense of belonging, realizing he was exactly where he was meant to be. Since then, and with each project he’s taken on, he’s maintained a feeling of peace and certainty that this is where he belongs.
Guillermo also complimented Jacob on his impressive performance, particularly highlighting the dedication and effort Jacob put into transforming for the role.
Let me tell you, working with this particular actor was intense! He required a serious commitment from the makeup team – we’re talking around 10 hours every single day just for application. And it wasn’t a quick process – we used roughly 42 different makeup and prosthetic pieces! Only then could he even begin his workday. It really highlights the dedication and effort that goes into creating these incredible on-screen transformations.
However, it was Jacob’s skillful performance that truly made the monster feel real and memorable.
Guillermo explained that performing this role is like a priest preparing for a ceremony, with layers of costume and ritual. He said, ‘You have to embody the ‘Ceremonial Guard’ and truly become the character.’ He described the final performance as both deeply moving and raw, filled with a vulnerable innocence that is incredibly touching.

The British actor famously gained over 40 pounds twice for his roles. First, he did it for his performance as a con man in the 2013 film American Hustle, earning an Oscar nomination. He then gained the same amount again to portray former Vice President Dick Cheney in the 2018 movie Vice, which also led to an Oscar nomination.
Christian Bale famously transformed his body for roles, losing a significant amount of weight multiple times. For the 2019 film Ford v Ferrari, he shed 70 pounds to portray the lean race car driver Ken Miles. This wasn’t new for Bale, as he’d previously lost around 30 pounds for his role in the 2011 movie The Fighter.

For the 2020 film, makeup artist Matthew Mungle used a mold of Glenn Close’s head from the 2011 movie Albert Nobbs to create prosthetics – a new set of ears and a false nose – to transform her into her character, Mamaw Vance, a real-life Appalachian grandmother. Close received an Oscar nomination for her performance, as reported by Variety.

To play Donald Trump, the actor reunited with the hair and makeup team who previously turned him into Tommy Lee for the series Pam & Tommy. He also gained weight to more accurately portray Trump’s physique.
Stan intentionally gained about 15 pounds by following his nutritionist’s advice: he ate a lot of instant ramen with soy sauce and drank soda to make his face appear fuller.

To portray the famous jazz singer in the 2021 movie, the actress lost nearly 40 pounds, a performance that earned her an Oscar nomination.

Okay, so everyone was talking about my diet during filming! My wonderful onscreen wife, Emily Blunt, playfully pointed out I was basically surviving on a single almond a day. Honestly, it sounds a little crazy, but I was really committed to accurately portraying J. Robert Oppenheimer, and that meant transforming my physical appearance as much as possible. I wanted to become the man, and that included how I looked.
The director explained to The New York Times that he focused on accurately portraying Oppenheimer’s physical appearance. To do this, he lost weight and collaborated closely with the costume department. Oppenheimer was known for being very thin, almost gaunt, and reportedly lived on a diet of martinis and cigarettes.

I’ll never forget watching her win the Best Actress Oscar in 2004! She absolutely blew me away with her incredibly haunting and realistic performance as Aileen Wuornos. It was a truly unforgettable role, and she completely deserved the award.

To portray the troubled Arthur Fleck, who later becomes Batman’s enemy, the actor lost 52 pounds. He received the Best Actor Oscar in 2020 for his compelling performance.

Makeup artists spent three hours transforming the Best Actress winner, using a remarkably large prosthetic nose, so she would be completely unrecognizable in the 2002 drama.

To portray an attorney with HIV suing his old company, the actor lost 35 pounds and completely shaved his head. He won the Best Actor Oscar in 1994 for the role, and also underwent a significant physical transformation – losing weight and growing a beard – for his Oscar-nominated performance in the 2000 film Cast Away.

The actress famously gained weight for her role in Bridget Jones’s Diary, but she didn’t need to change her body at all to play Judy Garland in the 2019 film Judy. She won her first Oscar for the performance, and the incredible transformation was all thanks to the work of the makeup and costume teams.
Renée developed a strong connection with Jany Temime, the costume designer for the film, who had previously worked on the Harry Potter movies, Vulture reports. Temime said, “It felt like Renée truly became Judy while playing her.”
Renée Zellweger explained that the costumes were tailored to mimic Judy Garland’s specific stance. As a result, Zellweger couldn’t even zip up the dresses unless she adopted Garland’s posture.

Margot Robbie transformed herself for her role as Tonya Harding in the 2017 film about the skater’s infamous scandal. Unlike her glamorous character in The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie used prosthetics, braces, and wigs to portray Harding and her career-ending controversy.

In 2014, Matthew McConaughey won the Best Actor Oscar for his dedicated performance as an electrician living with HIV/AIDS.

I’ll never forget Heath Ledger’s Joker. It was absolutely captivating and haunting – he truly deserved that Oscar he received in 2008, even after he was gone. What made it so special was how different his take on the character was; it wasn’t like any Joker we’d seen before. Christopher Nolan really let him create something unique in that second Batman film.
Makeup artist John Caglione Jr. wondered to IGN what would happen if the character didn’t bother with his appearance. “What if he slept in his makeup? What if he didn’t refresh it for two or three weeks? He never even changes his clothes!” Caglione explained that focusing on these small, realistic details was key.
He explained that when you picture clown makeup, it’s usually very precise and defined. But this makeup was different – it was meant to be the complete opposite of that.

The Academy Award-winning actress completely transformed her look to portray Brandon Teena, a real-life transgender man, in a 1999 film, and then did so again in Clint Eastwood’s 2004 Best Picture winner.

To transform into Winston Churchill for the role, the actor—who was nominated for Best Actor in 2018—spent over four hours each day getting makeup applied and wore a special bodysuit similar to a Victorian corset.

To win Best Actress at the 2011 Oscars, the actress lost 20 pounds and dedicated as much as 16 hours a day to preparing for her role as a ballerina struggling with mental illness.

Jared Leto, known for his transformative roles, fully committed to playing a transgender woman living with HIV for his Oscar-winning performance in 2014. He lost 40 pounds for the part and remained in character only while filming.
I’d transformed my body for roles before, but this was a completely different experience,” Jared Leto explained to TopMob News in 2013. “The part really required that level of dedication. I focused on how a dramatic physical change would impact everything – my posture, my speech, my personality, even my emotions. It made me feel incredibly vulnerable and insecure.”

The actress who won Best Actress physically transformed for her role, gaining 15 pounds of muscle to portray a mother escaping captivity with her 5-year-old son, Jacob Tremblay, in a 2015 film. To fully understand her character’s experience, she also intentionally limited her social interactions and restricted her diet, even avoiding nutrients like Vitamin D.

Rooney Mara received a Best Actress nomination at the 2012 Oscars for her role in the thriller. To fully become the character Lisbeth Salander, she went to extreme lengths, including getting multiple piercings, bleaching her eyebrows, and cutting her hair.
