Jake Haro has confessed to killing his son Emmanuel Haro.
Just under two months after being arrested for the murder of their 7-month-old son on August 22nd, Jake Haro has pled guilty to three charges. Rebecca Haro, the baby’s mother, was also arrested in connection with the case.
According to a press release from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office on October 16th, the 32-year-old man admitted guilt to charges of murder, endangering a child, and making a false report to the police. The District Attorney’s Office clarified that the guilty pleas were made directly to the court, meaning the judge will decide his sentence, not as part of a plea bargain. He could face between 25 years and life in prison.
He will be sentenced on November 3rd. That’s also the date his wife, Rebecca, is due in court for a preliminary hearing regarding murder and false reporting charges – she hasn’t entered a plea yet.
Jake and Rebecca are still being held in jail with a $1 million bail, according to a complaint filed by the district attorney on October 16th, as reported by TopMob News.
TopMob News has reached out to Jake and Rebecca’s lawyers for comment but has not heard back.

Rebecca, 41, and Jake, 32, along with their 2-year-old daughter, reported their baby, Emmanuel, missing on August 14th. They told KTLA 5 that Rebecca was attacked and knocked unconscious while changing Emmanuel’s diaper in a sporting goods store parking lot, and when she woke up, the baby was gone. However, police didn’t believe their story and suspected it was made up.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced on August 23rd that their investigation found no evidence of a kidnapping in Yucaipa. They believe Emmanuel is dead and are still searching for his remains.
Following his arrest on August 22nd, Jake told the Southern California News Group that he and his partner hadn’t done what authorities were claiming, according to the Orange County Register.
He said he wanted to discuss the matter, but his lawyer had advised him not to speak to the press. “I was told not to say anything,” he explained.

As for Rebecca, she also spoke out, maintaining her belief that Emmanuel had been kidnapped.
“I’m not giving up,” she told a reporter with the Southern California News Group, as reported in the *Press-Enterprise*. “I won’t give up on my child.”
Rebecca later added, “I want to be out looking for my baby.”
Although the baby’s body hasn’t been discovered, prosecutors believe he probably died sometime between August 5th and August 14th, according to court documents previously reported by TopMob News.
Investigators believe Emmanuel suffered abuse for a significant period before his death. Riverside District Attorney Mike Herstin stated at a press conference on August 27th that evidence indicates the baby experienced ongoing abuse that led to his death.
He added that their office is dedicated to achieving justice for this child and remembering his life.

On August 14, 2025, Rebecca Haro reported that her 7-month-old son, Emmanuel, was missing. She told authorities that she was changing his diaper at a Big 5 sporting goods store in Yucaipa, California, when he was apparently kidnapped, and her husband, Jake Haro, was with her.
You know, I was just going about my day, reaching for a diaper, when someone said ‘Hello’ to me, and honestly, that’s the last thing I remember. I came to on the floor, completely disoriented, and Emmanuel was nowhere to be seen. It was so strange!
The San Bernardino County Sheriff later shared a press release regarding the search for Emmanuel.
Police are asking for the public’s help to find a missing child. In an Instagram post, they said the child was last seen wearing a black Nike onesie. He weighs around 21 pounds, is about 24 inches tall, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He also has a distinctive crossed-eye appearance.

As the search for their son continued, investigators observed that Jake had hired a lawyer, and they started to find discrepancies in Rebecca’s account of the kidnapping. On August 22, 2025, both Jake and Rebecca were arrested and charged with their son’s murder, as well as filing a false report with the police.
Detectives arrested Jake and Rebecca Haro at their home in Cabazon this morning and charged them with murder, according to a Sheriff’s Department Instagram post. The following day, authorities announced that investigators now believe reports of a kidnapping in Yucaipa were false. They believe Emmauel is dead and are continuing to search for his remains.
Despite their arrest, both parents maintained their innocence.
Rebecca told a reporter with the Southern California News Group, as reported in the Press-Enterprise, that she wouldn’t give up on her child.
Following the resurfacing of a 2021 child endangerment charge—to which Jake pleaded guilty in 2023—Rebecca stated in the interview that he would never intentionally harm a child.

On August 27, 2025, California District Attorney Mike Herstin held a press conference to share details about the alleged abuse suffered by Emmanuel, as revealed by authorities.
According to Herstin, the evidence clearly indicates that baby Emmanuel suffered repeated abuse which led to his death. Her office is dedicated to achieving justice for him and remembering his life.

According to a complaint filed by prosecutors and reviewed by TopMob News on August 27, 2025, Emmanuel was unlawfully killed sometime between August 5th and August 14th, 2025, in Riverside County, California.
Based on the estimated timing, Emmanuel may have been deceased for up to nine days before Rebecca reported him as kidnapped.

On August 27, 2025, Jake told *The Orange County Register* that the claims Herstin made at a press conference regarding his son’s disappearance were completely false.
The son’s father, who has a young daughter with Rebecca, was advised by his lawyer not to comment on his son’s disappearance.
He also stated, “We have faith things will work out.” He acknowledged the accusations were deeply disturbing and understood why they’ve caused such a strong reaction.
He noted that if he could tell his son one thing, it would be, “I love you, buddy.”

On October 16th, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office announced that Jake had admitted guilt to charges of murder, putting a child in danger, and making a false report to the police.
He faces a potential sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
He will be sentenced on November 3rd. That’s also the date his wife, Rebecca, is due in court for a preliminary hearing regarding charges of murder and making a false report to the police. She hasn’t entered a plea yet.
