James Bond fans will have to be patient – the new 007 game, First Light, has been pushed back and won’t be released as originally planned.
The team at Danish studio IO Interactive, known for creating the Hitman games, was originally planning to release 007 First Light on March 27, 2026.
The game’s release date has been delayed. The developer announced on social media that it will now launch on May 27, 2026, a two-month postponement.

IOI explained the delay by saying that 007 First Light is their biggest project yet, and the team is dedicated to creating a truly memorable James Bond game. They added that this extra time will help them deliver a polished, high-quality experience for players from the start.
Good news from IOI is that the game is now completely playable, though they’ve decided to delay its release to give it some final polish and improvements.

So, I’m really excited about this new game, First Light! It’s a Bond origin story, basically showing a much younger, way more impulsive James Bond as he’s trying to earn his 00 status and that license to kill. It’s cool to see him before he was the polished agent we all know.
The game boasts a strong cast, led by Patrick Gibson, known for his roles in shows like Dexter: Original Sin and The OA.
Lenny Kravitz recently joined the movie’s cast and will play the villain, Bawma. However, details about Bawma’s specific role in the story are still unclear.
