In my role as a supporter, I’d say: As a fan myself, I can attest to James Gunn’s unique talent for weaving music into his cinematic ventures. It was with Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy that his meticulously chosen soundtracks truly shone, enhancing the narrative and becoming an integral part of the storyline. Now, as he delves deeper into DC Universe, the creative mind behind DC Studios continues to infuse his passion for music into every project, such as the upcoming season 2 of Peacemaker. Recently at San Diego Comic-Con, Gunn shared that this second season has a soundtrack he particularly cherishes. He also hinted at an artist whose tunes will resonate through the series beyond the latest trailer: none other than Ozzy Osbourne.
At San Diego Comic-Con, Gunn expressed his fondness for the soundtrack of Peacemaker‘s second season, stating that it’s his favorite soundtrack he’s ever created, with a focus on more contemporary artists. He described the soundtrack as being similar to the one from Season 1 but featuring a lot more modern bands. Additionally, he mentioned the inclusion of the late Ozzy Osbourne in the trailer for Season 2, hinting that there will be other Ozzy songs featured in the series. Gunn shared that the news of Ozzy’s passing was particularly sad to him, as it wasn’t until that morning that he realized they had used one of his songs in the trailer and the upcoming season.
Check out the freshly unveiled trailer for Peacemaker Season 2 up there, which incorporates the Ozzy Osbourne hit “Road to Nowhere.” James Gunn hasn’t disclosed yet which other Ozzy tune will be part of the upcoming season, but fans can appreciate the clever choice of “Road to Nowhere” in this latest sneak peek. The first season of Peacemaker featured tracks like “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster the People, “Do Ya Wanna Taste It” by Wig Wam, “I Don’t Love You Anymore” by The Quireboys, “Borderline Crazy” by The Cruel Intentions, and “Push Push (Lady Lightening)” by Bang Camaro.
By the way, this new version maintains the same information but attempts to make it more engaging and conversational in tone.
In the second season of “Peacemaker,” the storyline unfolds subsequent to the happenings of “Superman.” John Cena’s character, Peacemaker, delves deeper into the Quantum Unfolding Chamber this time around, seeking to discover various dimensions. Additionally, Chris embarks on a journey through alternate realities; however, the upcoming season of “Peacemaker” also introduces Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., who is pursuing Peacemaker for the murder of his son, Rick Flag Jr., portrayed by Joel Kinnaman in the 2021 film “The Suicide Squad.
In the series “Peacemaker,” John Cena portrays Chris Smith/Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks plays Leota Adebayo, Jennifer Holland is Agent Emilia Harcourt, Freddie Stroma takes on Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Steve Agee assumes the role of John Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji acts as Clemson Murn, Robert Patrick appears as Auggie Smith/White Dragon, Michael Rooker stars as Red St. Wild, Frank Grillo is Rick Flag Sr., Tim Meadows portrays Langston Fleury, and Sol Rodriguez embodies Sasha Bordeaux. The upcoming season may include characters from “Superman,” but director James Gunn has not yet revealed which character will make an appearance.
The second season of “Peacemaker,” consisting of eight episodes, makes its premiere on HBO Max on August 21st. You can already watch the first season of this popular show, which is only available for streaming on HBO Max.
