Clark’s collection features timeless hits like “Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey and “I’m Not Down” by The Clash, along with alternative rock tunes from the 2000s such as “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World. Interestingly, Eve Teschmacher, a confessed Taylor Swift fan, has compiled a mix that includes five songs by Taylor Swift, in addition to tracks from contemporary pop artists like Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter.
Currently, the Spotify playlists for certain Superman characters such as Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen are not yet available, implying that they will become accessible at a future time. At present, you won’t find Lois Lane’s or Jimmy Olsen’s playlist. In his introduction video, Gunn hinted that Jimmy’s songs mainly revolve around “avoiding commitments to people” (something he didn’t initially realize until it was brought to his attention). Fans are encouraged to monitor the Spotify playlist as additional songs are expected to be added in anticipation of Superman’s launch on July 11th.
In Gunn’s past movies, the music plays a role extending beyond mere background tunes. Often, it carries an emotional resonance that enhances the storyline. To illustrate, in Guardians of the Galaxy, Star-Lord listens to his old pop mix because it symbolizes his last bond with his deceased mother. It’s not likely Superman will be playing The Clash while flying over Metropolis, but Gunn’s selection of music for Superman shares a similar idea. These tunes aim to provide fans with deeper insights into the characters, helping them understand these figures better before even watching the movie. It’s an engaging way to explore character development that suits Gunn’s creative style perfectly.
