Man of Tomorrow is closing in on casting the next major player in the DC Universe.
According to Deadline, Marisa Abela, Adria Arjona, and Ella Purnell are being considered for a significant female role in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow. The role is believed to be Maxima, a DC character. Many fans have hoped to see Adria Arjona join the DC Universe, particularly as Wonder Woman, but Gunn has confirmed that Wonder Woman and Batman won’t appear in the 2027 film, dismissing previous speculation.
In January 2026, Nexus Point News first reported that Maxima was being considered for a role as a villain in the upcoming “Man of Tomorrow” movie. The film will center on Superman, played by David Corenswet, and Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, as they team up to face the DC villain Brainiac.

Man of Tomorrow opens in theaters on July 9, 2027.
