James Marsden’s Avengers: Doomsday Comments Should Satisfy X-Men Fans

James Marsden‘s recent comments about Avengers: Doomsday should come as a relief to many X-Men fans.

What did James Marsden say about Avengers: Doomsday?

James Marsden recently hinted in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that he’ll be reprising his role as Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops, in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie.

Marsden assured fans that Doomsday would deliver, saying, “I’m not supposed to reveal too much, but you can expect to be amazed. The Russo Brothers are taking things to the next level, and Marvel is giving fans exactly what they’ve been hoping for.”

Viewers first saw Marsden reprise his role in a short trailer for Avengers: Doomsday. The clip showed Cyclops removing his glasses and letting out a painful yell while releasing energy blasts from his eyes.

James Marsden has played the character Cyclops in four X-Men films: X-Men (2000), X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).

Several actors from the original X-Men movies made by 20th Century Fox are reprising their roles in Doomsday. These include Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique.

Channing Tatum is set to play Remy LeBeau, also known as Gambit, with a first look expected in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie. There’s also talk that both Ryan Reynolds (as Deadpool) and Hugh Jackman (as Wolverine) might join the massive Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars films.

The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, will bring together Earth’s mightiest heroes – including the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and the warriors of Wakanda – to fight Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. This film will set the stage for a sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, planned for release a year later.

Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors behind several popular Marvel films, are back to direct the next Avengers movie, which is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
