Jana Kramer and Jessie James Decker‘s latest collaboration, “Do It in Heels,” celebrates the might of women and mothers who juggle everything effortlessly.
Kramer, 41, pulled from her real-life dating experience for inspiration behind the lyrics.
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, she revealed that she penned the song while she was raising her child on her own, and at that time, she was unattached. The new track, which includes Decker, is about creating a “girl empowerment” song without being overly sentimental.
Kramer reminisced, “Instead of brooding over my disastrous L.A. date, I decided to turn it into a tune. The next morning, I thought to myself, ‘I don’t want to feel sad about this terrible date, so let me write a song instead.’
Previously starring on “One Tree Hill,” now happily wed to Allan Russell, she recalled a sense of certainty that all would fall into place once the moment was perfect.
She mentioned that she had anticipated being in her current situation, but added a special sentiment for all the strong, independent women juggling multiple responsibilities. She expressed admiration for their ability to handle everything with poise and elegance.
In April of 2021, Kramer officially separated from her former spouse, Mike Caussin, with whom she has a 9-year-old daughter named Jolie and a 6-year-old son called Jayce.
As I was penning the lyrics, it struck me immediately that I should collaborate with my old friend, the mother of four, Decker. She’s got a brood including Vivianne, 11, Eric Jr., 9, Forrest, 7, and baby Denver who’s just 16 months old, all with her husband, Eric Decker.
Kramer enthusiastically exclaimed, ‘There’s no one more suitable to bring than Jessie! She excels at whatever she does too.’ Jessie embodies the perfect blend of a close friend for women and a supermom who juggles everything effortlessly.

The tune that’s been released for streaming features Kramer and Decker singing lyrics praising women for accomplishing tasks just as capably as men—all while maintaining their unique flair.
Honey, let’s face it honestly, I don’t think those Jimmy Choos would last on you for even a single day,” Kramer exclaims in one of his lines.
Meanwhile, the chorus encourages listeners by emphasizing that women are unfazed (“aren’t even tripping at all”) and they manage to balance family, relationships, and careers (“babies, him and business”) with grace and poise (“standing tall”), often while wearing high-heels.
Simultaneously, Kramer was a solo parent as she penned the tune, and she was expecting her third child when she proposed the idea to Decker.
At the given moment, we were both expecting. Kramer explained this to Us magazine. So, we thought, “Alright, this is what we’ve got to do.” She consented, and then we decided, “Alright, let’s have our babies first, and then we’ll proceed with it.

In November 2023, Roman, the son of Kramer and Russell, was warmly received by his parents. They got married in January 2024, and later, in July of the same year, they had a grand wedding ceremony in Scotland.
Decker, meanwhile, welcomed son Denver with husband Eric, 38, in February 2024.
Despite the connection through pregnancy and friendship, the creator of Kittenish shared with us that she fell in love with the song right away and believed it spoke strongly to women who juggle multiple tasks everywhere.

Decker expressed delight that Jana envisioned their collaboration as a duet with another woman, stating it amplified the sense of female camaraderie even further. She emphasized their shared journey, stating “we’re in this together, this is it.” Following the birth of her youngest child, she felt the essence of womanhood at its best when other school moms brought meals and candles, forming a supportive chain. Such gestures, she mentioned, were entirely new to her experience.
She went on saying, “It was simply a display of women empowering each other. It was quite moving. What I find remarkable about this song is its consistent theme – women who excel in many areas and manage to keep a cheerful disposition.
Decker chuckled, saying, “And it’s not just to put a smile on your face, but because you’re incredibly capable – that’s who you are. We’re all like that, able to juggle tasks effortlessly. For instance, we can bake a pie while doing our jobs and taking care of the little ones at the same time.
