Janet Jackson Celebrates Son Eissa’s 9th Birthday With Rare Message

Janet Jackson is building a virtual escapade for her little one.

Singer Ciara shared a peek at the elaborate gifts she gave her son, Eissa Al Mana, for his 9th birthday. Eissa is her son with ex-husband Wissam Al Mana.

In a January 3rd Instagram post, Janet wrote a sweet birthday message, saying, “May God always bless and protect you, my love.”

In a recent photo, Janet Jackson shared a look at her son’s birthday cake – a Playstation 5 controller! The cake was decorated in the console’s red and black colors, featured nine candles, and even had a small, edible Astro Bot figure. To go with the cake, Janet also bought Eissa some new video games for his Playstation 5.

This isn’t the first time Mariah Carey has celebrated her son’s birthday. Last year, she shared a heartwarming video on Instagram for his 8th birthday, calling him a creative, kind, loving, and intelligent young boy.

Janet has often talked about how her son, Eissa, has impacted her life, especially how she’s managed to raise him privately while still pursuing her music.

Becoming a mother has been the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever done, and it’s completely changed my life for the better,” she shared with The Guardian in September 2024. “I initially wanted a larger family, but realized I should probably limit it to one child because motherhood requires giving everything you have. While I still work, my child’s needs naturally come first.”

Oh my gosh, Janet and Wissam… their divorce in 2017 after almost five years together always stuck with me. But you know what Janet said? She said going through it completely changed her life, and she wouldn’t change a single thing about it. It just… gets me, you know? Like, she found herself, and that’s amazing!

As she grows her music career, she also wants to make sure her son stays curious and imaginative.

She said she wants her son to fully enjoy being a child, because childhood is a unique and fleeting time. Once you grow up, you never get those years back, so she wants him to savor every moment.
