Jason Kelce can’t believe Donna Kelce’s home renovation, either. 

When a story about the mother of a former Philadelphia Eagles player renovating her Florida home became popular online, he playfully joined in the fun and responded to the memes about it.

Jason Kelce jokingly announced on X (formerly Twitter) on March 8th that he spent two hours watching the children’s show Bluey, referencing a news story about his mother’s home improvements.

When TMZ published details about Donna’s house renovations, people online started playfully acting like it was a huge deal.

One user jokingly posted on March 8th, “I was shocked to learn Donna Kelce was getting her house renovated, and then I had to go to work!”

With the news coming out right as clocks sprung forward for Daylight Saving Time, one X user joked, “Will this delay Donna Kelce’s house renovation?”

Donna Kelce’s recent home renovation gaining attention online is just the newest example of how the Kelce family has been adapting to public life since Travis Kelce started dating, and is now engaged to, Taylor Swift in 2023.

Last year, Jason Kelce talked about how his family – including his wife, Kylie Kelce, and their daughters Wyatt (6), Elliotte (5), Bennett (3), and Finn (11 months) – have been adjusting to increased public attention over the past few years.

Jason recently told the Wall Street Journal that he’s been appearing on television more often, which has increased his public visibility. He explained that this has significantly changed things when he goes out in public, not just for him, but for his entire family, including his wife.

The 38-year-old acknowledged that maintaining a private life is becoming more difficult, but stressed that he and his family make a real effort to live as normally as possible.

Taylor has openly discussed how being famous can make relationships difficult. She’s said that one of the things she appreciates about Travis Kelce and his family is how they handle fame – their levelheadedness was a big attraction for her.

Taylor explained on the New Heights podcast that the situation has impacted how she deals with things. She said if someone isn’t bothered by something and finds it amusing, it changes her own reaction to it.

She explained that things had gotten to the point where even if her name was in the news, it wouldn’t necessarily mean she was involved or knew anything about it.

Even before Taylor Swift famously went to the Kansas City Chiefs game on September 24, 2023, Travis Kelce was a fan of hers.

Fans first learned the star tight end was interested in Taylor Swift through a TikTok video posted by the Chiefs in August 2023—around the time they were actually starting to date privately.

Before Travis could say who his celebrity crush was, his teammate, wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, blurted out, “Taylor Swift!”

Travis smiled at the camera before holding his finger up to his mustache, saying, “Alright now!”

He definitely gets lost in thought sometimes – especially when he sees Taylor on the jumbotron at his games – but Travis is a bit different from Taylor’s past boyfriends.

She often dates people in creative fields, like actors – including Joe Alwyn, Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Lautner, and Tom Hiddleston – and musicians such as Calvin Harris, John Mayer, Harry Styles, and, most recently, Matty Healy.

Maybe that’s why her relationship with the playful and fun athlete – who recently signed a new two-year contract with the Chiefs for $34.25 million in 2024 – feels like a welcome change for Taylor, especially after her very private six-year relationship with Joe ended in April 2023.

It seems the ten-time Pro Bowler got what he wanted – a relationship with the superstar. He’d strongly hinted at wanting this for a while, and it’s like his persistent desire and open admiration made it happen.

Travis recently revealed that he tried to meet Taylor Swift at her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City on July 7, 2023, but it didn’t go as planned. He’d made a friendship bracelet with his “number” on it as a gift for her, hoping to give it to her, though he didn’t specify whether it was his jersey or phone number.

Okay, so there was a lot of talk about whether or not I met someone after a concert, and he said he was disappointed we didn’t connect. But I’m setting the record straight – I actually did eventually find and listen to his podcast! It just happened a little later than either of us expected. She fondly remembered when Travis playfully called her out on his podcast, saying she thought it was really cool. They started spending time together right after that, and she appreciated having a period of privacy where they could get to know each other without the public eye.

The idea that Taylor and Travis’s first official outing was at the September 24th game? Taylor told TIME they’d never publicly announce a first date like that – it just wouldn’t happen!

Since she started dating Travis, Taylor Swift has been out in public more often, whether it’s hanging out with friends in New York City or celebrating at events like the 2023 MTV VMAs and the 2024 Grammys.

However, she gained the most attention for being seen in Travis Kelce’s suite at the Kansas City Chiefs game on September 24, 2023, when they played the Chicago Bears.

He clarified that his personal life is private and he wants to respect everyone involved. He’s happy with how things are going, especially enjoying the recent weekend. From now on, he plans to limit his public comments, mostly sticking to talking about sports and offering brief, casual responses.

In a November 2023 interview with the Wall Street Journal, he emphasized his intention to remain calm and composed.

People were constantly telling me not to mess things up, and I was just thinking, ‘Okay, I understand,'” he explained. He added that his main concern was avoiding saying anything that might alienate Taylor.

I’ve been following this story, and it’s interesting to see how relationships play out in the public eye. He just can’t help but share how much his girlfriend means to him – he’s even publicly acknowledged she helped boost his jersey sales! It was sweet to see him defend her too, calling her ‘amazing’ after she unfortunately received some boos from Patriots fans at a game last December. It really shows where his priorities lie.

He told the Wall Street Journal that he’s not usually very expressive. But being with Taylor, and witnessing her intelligence, has been incredibly inspiring and eye-opening. He says he’s constantly learning from her.

In February 2023, Donna Kelce gained widespread attention as the first mother to see her two sons compete against each other in the Super Bowl. Her son Travis played against his older brother, Jason Kelce, the center for the Philadelphia Eagles, in the nationally televised game.

Donna shared with ET how incredible it was that both her sons had achieved so much – getting through high school, college, and playing professional football. To then both be selected for the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl, and now this… it’s a dream come true. She said the moment was incredibly special for the whole family and felt unbelievable.

Following the Super Bowl, where the Chiefs defeated the Eagles, Travis and Jason Kelce shared a touching moment as they thought about experiencing it all with their mother, Donna.

Jason said on the “New Heights” podcast that seeing his mom was incredibly moving. He described it as an amazing experience, adding that she was overjoyed for a week afterwards.

Travis said, “She was a true champion.” He explained that she was completely in control and performed brilliantly throughout.”

Similar to Taylor and her brother Austin Swift, Travis shares a close relationship with his older brother Jason, who first sparked his interest in football.

Beyond their successful NFL careers, Travis and Jason Kelce started their podcast, New Heights, in September 2022. The podcast has not only brought them closer together but has also been financially rewarding.

You know, it’s funny – Miles is a HUGE Eagles fan, and I’ve been hearing whispers that he might have played a little matchmaker! It seems he could have connected Travis and Taylor, maybe even suggested they finally meet in person. It’s just a theory, of course, but it would explain how things moved so quickly!

Taylor Swift went to the Chiefs game on September 24, 2023, by herself, but on October 1st, when the Chiefs played the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, she brought a group of famous friends with her.

She was joined by her close friends Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, along with Ryan’s friend Hugh Jackman. Sophie Turner, Sabrina Carpenter, and Antoni Porowski from Queer Eye were also there.

Seeing them at the game was a big hint, but Ryan following Travis on Instagram really confirmed things.

Travis has appeared in four Super Bowls, winning three, and he’s also hosted Saturday Night Live. This shows he’s comfortable performing under pressure and in the public eye.

It might not seem like a big deal, but Taylor Swift has written multiple songs about being worried her fame will be difficult for anyone she dates. For example, you can hear this theme in songs like “Peace” and “The Archer.”

Taylor explained that whether or not she hides a relationship depends on her partner’s comfort level. She doesn’t like having to hide, though, because it feels like she’s doing something wrong and is trying to avoid scrutiny. She doesn’t want a relationship where they feel they need to keep it secret.

“I feel like if you can be in a relationship and have it seem normal, that would be good.” 

In his interview with the Wall Street Journal, Travis showed he can handle the attention and expectations that come with being married to someone as famous as Taylor.

I’ve never been with someone who carries themselves like that, so this is new territory for me,” he admitted. “But I’m not going to let it scare me off either.”

He explained that she’s constantly under intense public attention – followed by photographers everywhere she goes, from her home to restaurants and airports – and she’s simply trying to live her life. He added that if she’s going to be herself, he expects the same in return and won’t be critical of her behavior.

As a huge fan, I was completely losing it when videos surfaced of Taylor running straight into Travis’ arms for a kiss after her Argentina show in November 2023 – seriously, it felt like a movie moment! And it was so sweet when she changed the lyrics to ‘Karma’ mid-song to be about ‘the guy on the Chiefs’! Travis was there with her dad, Scott Swift, and you could tell he was totally surprised and thrilled. It just keeps getting more adorable!

Showing up to support each other at games – like Taylor flying from Tokyo to the Super Bowl after a concert to see Travis play – really demonstrates how committed they are to their relationship.

Taylor explained to TIME that they enjoy openly supporting each other. “We’re just there for each other, and we don’t worry about what anyone else thinks,” she said. “It’s the opposite of hiding your relationship and going to great lengths to keep it a secret. We’re proud to be there for each other and celebrate what he loves.”

If seeing Taylor at NFL games bothers you, she’s clearly not worried about it and isn’t going to let it bother her either.

She explained that there’s a camera about half a mile away, and she has no idea where it is or when it’s focused on her. She’s unsure if she’s on TV a lot or hardly at all. Her main purpose is to support Travis, and she isn’t concerned about whether she’s being shown too much and potentially annoying some viewers.

Killa Trav’s birthday is October 5th, and it’s a curious coincidence that it’s also the birthday of Taylor Swift’s grandmother, Marjorie Finlay – who inspired Taylor’s song “Marjorie” from her 2020 album, evermore. It almost feels like a meaningful connection!
