Jason Kelce Reveals “Coolest” Part of Travis, Taylor Swift’s Romance

Jason Kelce is happy that—because Taylor Swift loves the player—scores of little girls love the game.

Former Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce, who has four daughters with his wife Kylie Kelce, discussed how Taylor Swift’s relationship with his brother Travis has brought a lot of new, young female viewers to the sport of football.

Jason noted that many people have shared how Taylor Swift has inspired girls to get involved in sports, and how it’s brought fathers and daughters closer together. He told Charissa Thompson on the November 24th episode of their podcast, New Heights, that hearing these stories from both dads and daughters is particularly rewarding when people talk about Taylor and Travis Kelce’s relationship.

The ESPN NFL analyst, who has four young children – Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finn, 7 months – said, with Travis agreeing, “It’s a wonderful thing.”

Charissa, appearing on the show with her Calm Down podcast partner Erin Andrews, pointed out that Taylor Swift’s influence on her fans is significant and shouldn’t be ignored.

Charissa explained that girls who weren’t previously interested in football are now getting involved, often because of seeing female players in ads and videos. This creates a special connection between fathers and their daughters, as they bond over the sport together.

Oh my gosh, even little Sterling, Patrick and Brittany’s daughter, is getting into football now! It’s all thanks to Taylor showing up to support the Chiefs on November 23rd against the Colts. I mean, can you believe it? Everyone is obsessed, and now even a four-year-old is a fan because of Taylor! It’s the best thing ever!

Patrick shared that having Taylor attend the games has been fantastic. Speaking at a press conference on February 4th before Super Bowl 2025, he said it’s great that she’s brought attention to his sport and inspired young fans, like his daughter, to watch.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce first connected in July 2023 when Swift’s Eras Tour visited Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Being a big fan of Taylor Swift, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end tried to give her a personalized friendship bracelet with his jersey number on it. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to reach her because she was busy preparing for the show.

Travis explained on his podcast, New Heights, that he was a little upset Taylor Swift didn’t speak before or after her concerts. He understood she needed to protect her voice for the 44 songs she performs, but he wished he’d been able to give her one of the friendship bracelets he made.

I was so impressed when Travis openly talked about that dropped pass – he even called it “metal as hell” later, which was just so him! It gave him the courage to finally ask Taylor to come to a Chiefs game at Arrowhead. I mean, what a move!

He explained on The Pat McAfee Show that he challenged Taylor Swift, saying he’d seen her perform at Arrowhead Stadium and suggested she come see him perform there too, to see who gives a better show. He added that fans might find out what happens soon.

Travis had grown a mustache, first showing it off in August during football training camp, and that’s how Taylor first met him.

He later recalled that his mustache and number 87 jersey were a memorable look during that time, and he was wearing them when he first met Taylor.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Travis and Taylor began communicating via text and phone calls around the beginning of September, as reported by TopMob News.

“It’s been very low-key,” the insider explained, “as he’s been in season.”

Taylor accepted Travis’ invitation and went to Arrowhead Stadium to watch him and the Kansas City Chiefs play the Chicago Bears, where she sat with his mother, Donna Kelce. After the game, Taylor and Travis were photographed showing affection for each other at a nearby bar.

Despite rumors that they met face-to-face for the first time, the singer of “Karma” later explained they had already spent a good deal of time getting to know each other.

As Taylor noted, “We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.” 

To show how serious things were getting, Taylor brought a group of her friends – including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Sophie Turner, Hugh Jackman, Sabrina Carpenter, and Antoni Porowski – to see the Chiefs play the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Taylor Swift seems to be getting close to Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Travis Kelce’s best friend and teammate, Patrick Mahomes, both at and away from NFL games. This could be another indication that Taylor and Travis are a couple.

The couple publicly displayed their relationship with a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live on October 14th. They continued the fun with the show’s after-party and a romantic dinner at the Waverly Inn.

During his team’s break, Travis flew to Argentina to see Taylor Swift perform as part of her Eras Tour. At the November 11th concert in Buenos Aires, he connected with Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, and Taylor even gave him a mention from the stage.

“Karma is that guy on the Chiefs,” Taylor sang, “coming straight home to me.”

Following the performance, Taylor Swift reportedly rushed backstage to greet Travis Kelce with a warm and affectionate kiss.

Taylor addressed the lavender craze surrounding her appearances at Travis’ games.

She told Time magazine that she’s excited to support him doing what he’s passionate about, and they’re both there for each other, not worrying about who else is around. She contrasted this with the lengths some people go to in order to keep a relationship secret.

 

The famous singer made Travis’ game on December 17th a family event, bringing her father along to support her boyfriend.

Taylor and Travis celebrated New Year’s Eve together and shared a kiss at midnight to ring in the new year.

Taylor continued getting to know Travis’s family and spent time with his brother, Jason Kelce, and sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce, while attending the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Buffalo Bills.

After the Chiefs won the AFC Championship and secured their place in the 2024 Super Bowl, Taylor joined Travis on the field. They celebrated with a kiss and then told each other ‘I love you’ for the first time.

“Tay, I’m gonna enjoy with the guys,” he told her. “I love you—so much it’s not funny.”

Taylor Swift, a self-proclaimed big fan of the New Heights podcast, appeared on an extended, two-hour episode with Travis and Jason Kelce on August 13th. During the conversation, she openly shared details about her life and relationship, and announced the title of her upcoming twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which will be released on October 3rd.

Over two years after Travis mentioned Taylor on his podcast, sparking a lot of buzz, the couple announced their engagement. They playfully referenced Taylor’s song “So High School” in an August 26th Instagram post sharing their engagement photos, writing, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
