DC Studios released the first trailer for Supergirl yesterday, giving fans a first glimpse of the new series. Even though it was a short preview, the trailer offered plenty to discuss. It introduces Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, portraying her as a world-weary and cynical character, and shows the destruction of Krypton. We also get a hint of the characters Kara will meet along the way, with the reveal of Jason Momoa as Lobo being a particularly exciting moment. Momoa’s portrayal appears faithful to the comic books, something fans have been anticipating for years, and the actor himself is clearly enthusiastic about the project.

Jason Momoa Keeps Proving He Was Perfect for Lobo
Jason Momoa is known for playing Aquaman, but many believe Lobo could be the comic book role he’s truly born to play. He’s wanted to play Lobo for years, and it’s easy to understand why – the character perfectly matches Momoa’s natural charm and larger-than-life presence. While we haven’t seen his full portrayal yet, everything suggests he’ll deliver a fantastic performance. As this is the first big-budget movie featuring Lobo, it’s exciting that Momoa is bringing the character to life, and it’s likely to be a memorable debut.
Jason Momoa has said he won’t be the main character in the Supergirl movie, which might be a letdown for some fans. However, he’s likely to appear in other DC Universe projects as well. If Momoa does a great job playing Lobo, the character will probably become very popular, and James Gunn and the team will likely find ways to include him in future films. Lobo’s rough personality fits the darker, more mature tone the Supergirl movie is establishing – it’s clearly different from Superman, and a bounty hunter like Lobo feels right at home in that world. Plus, Jason Momoa has wanted to play Lobo for a long time, so he and the filmmakers likely put a lot of effort into making his debut in the DC Universe memorable.
It’ll be fun to see how Lobo fits into the story of Supergirl, but he’s likely to feel like a natural part of the show. So far, the DC Universe projects have been great at telling individual stories while still connecting to a larger universe. We saw this with the Justice Gang in Superman and Lex Luthor in Peacemaker Season 2 – those additions enhanced the stories without distracting from them. Hopefully, Jason Momoa’s first appearance as Lobo will have the same effect.
