The action star is returning to theaters later this month with his new movie, Shelter. However, many fans are even more excited about his comeback to the franchise. Director Timo Tjahjanto has been building anticipation for the sequel, promising a variety of new villains.
Jason Statham is known for playing the hero who defeats countless villains in his action films, but his upcoming movie, The Beekeeper 2, might present him with his biggest challenge yet. Director Tjahjanto recently told The Direct…
I’m really excited about this project. The script is fantastic, and we’re introducing a lot of new villains. What makes a film like ‘Beekeeper’ so good is the unpredictable and interesting villains, and we’re aiming to deliver that again in the sequel.
Principal photography for The Beekeeper 2 finished in December 2025. Jason Statham reprises his role, alongside returning cast members Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, Jeremy Irons, and Jemma Redgrave. The sequel also introduces new actors Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff, and Adam Copeland. After facing off against Josh Hutcherson’s character in the first film, it will be intriguing to see the new and diverse group of villains Statham’s character will battle in this installment.

If you’re a fan of Jason Statham’s action films, The Beekeeper delivered exactly what you’d expect: intense, exaggerated violence and a wildly unbelievable story that only Statham could pull off. The sequel appears to be taking things even further, especially with its group of villains. Director Timo Tjahjanto shared some hints about his approach to these antagonists back in August, suggesting they’ll be even more formidable.
I think you’ll really like the villains in Beekeeper 2. They’re going to feel very much like something from a specific genre – almost like they stepped out of an anime or manga. When we created the main character for Beekeeper, I told Jason we wanted someone who had faced a lot of hardship, and whose only motivation was a strong sense of principle.
