Jason Statham’s 2023 spy thriller, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, is now a hit on Prime Video after being added to the service in February 2026. Many viewers had seemingly forgotten about the film before its recent streaming success.
Despite not performing well in theaters – it made around $49 million with a $50 million budget – the film is still a good watch, particularly for those who enjoy action-packed spy thrillers starring Jason Statham. It’s one of many exciting thrillers he’s been in that are worth seeing.
Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre Is #1 In The U.S. On Prime Video
I’ve been really enjoying Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre on Prime Video – it’s quickly become one of the most popular movies on there! It’s a 2023 film by Guy Ritchie, and it’s a great mix of spy action, adventure, and comedy. It’s totally kept me hooked and is a really fun watch.
Jason Statham often plays the solo hero in his movies, but in Operation Fortune, he’s joined by a strong supporting cast including Aubrey Plaza, Hugh Grant, Josh Hartnett, and Cary Elwes. Critics were split on the film – it received a 51% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – but audiences enjoyed it much more, giving it an 82% score.
Guy Ritchie’s film Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre is one of five movies he’s directed starring Jason Statham, joining films like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), Snatch (2000), Revolver (2005), and Wrath of Man (2021). Though it came out nearly three years ago, the film is now gaining popularity and is currently the most-watched movie on Prime Video in the U.S. as the weekend begins.
Jason Statham & Guy Ritchie’s Spy Thriller Is A Must-Watch This Weekend
As a big movie fan, I was surprised by how much critics seemed to dislike the recent Statham and Ritchie spy comedy. Honestly, on paper, it felt like a guaranteed hit – both of them are so prolific and usually deliver! It’s a shame it just sort of disappeared without getting the attention I think it deserved. It feels like it got swept under the rug.
In Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, Jason Statham stars as Orson, a top spy who enlists a Hollywood actor (Josh Hartnett) to help stop a wealthy arms dealer (Hugh Grant) from selling dangerous new weapons. The movie has a promising idea, boosted by Hartnett’s return to acting and Aubrey Plaza’s comedic talent.
The recent success of Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre on Prime Video suggests the film might have found its audience better as a streaming release. However, Jason Statham is a reliable draw for audiences, and his movies generally benefit from being shown in theaters.
Looking for a lighthearted and exciting spy movie? Check out Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre on Prime Video this weekend – it’s full of fun without being too complicated.
