Jay-Z is throwing shade at his friends turned foes.
During his performance at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia on May 30th, the rapper known as “Friend or Foe” appeared to criticize his former friends Kanye West, Drake, and Nicki Minaj.
“That lady back on the stuff, she sound like she in love with him,” Jay-Z rapped during an impromptu freestyle during his set, per Rolling Stone. “Her Ken can’t even pick they kids, enough of them.”
Jay-Z appeared to allude to Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender due to a 1995 conviction for attempted rape.
People on social media also noted that he seemed to copy Nicki’s mistake from an April performance, when she briefly forgot the lyrics to one of her songs.
Drake appeared to criticize Jay-Z in his 2026 song “Janice STFU,” using the phrase “The jig is up” – a reference to Jay-Z’s nickname, Jigga. Jay-Z quickly and clearly responded to this criticism.
In his lyrics, Jay-Z, also known as Shawn Carter, declared, ‘The truth is out.’ He then referenced his own success, saying people admire him, but he doesn’t admire those who try to claim they’ve achieved similar levels. He went on to criticize those who control publishing rights, telling them to ‘show strength’ to those in power instead of pretending to understand his achievements.
He continued, saying, “You all are laborers, and your agreement is written to last forever. I don’t want to have to explain this further.”
The 56-year-old artist publicly criticized Ye, his former collaborator on the successful 2011 album Watch the Throne, for hurtful comments he made in 2025 about the children of Jay-Z and Beyoncé: 14-year-old Blue Ivy Carter, and 8-year-old twins Rumi and Sir.

Jay-Z rapped about ‘wonder-kin,’ referring to his children. He then challenged anyone attempting to provoke him, threatening retaliation against those who tried to get under his skin.
Before publicly addressing other rappers in his music, Jay-Z shared his thoughts on Drake’s well-known conflict with Kendrick Lamar, pointing out that rap battles rarely have a clear winner.
In a recent interview with GQ, Jay-Z explained that he felt some aspects of hip-hop were regressive. He suggested that rap battles, while historically important, may no longer be necessary or relevant given how much the culture has evolved. He stated, ‘We’ve grown so much that… I don’t know if battling needs to be part of the culture anymore.’
He feels the current approach is taking things too far, especially involving younger participants. He admits it sounds like an older person complaining, but he believes they can still collaborate and practice with music without completely dismantling the traditional format. He explains that in the past, battles were enjoyable and temporary because there was no social media to prolong them. He worries that with today’s technology, a similar battle wouldn’t be able to resolve itself peacefully.

In January 2024, Bobby addressed speculation about a disagreement with Tan, following his announcement in November 2023 that he was leaving Queer Eye after eight seasons. (Bobby is pictured second from left.)
He assured Vanity Fair that he and Tan are doing okay. He explained they went through a personal issue, but it’s separate from their work on the show and wasn’t a romantic matter. It was something that had been building up between them, he clarified.
In March 2024, Tan addressed claims that he tried to get his friend Jeremiah Brent to replace Bobby on the show Queer Eye.
Netflix and the production team held extensive auditions. I didn’t recommend my friend for the role, but they ultimately got it because they were the most qualified. I also want to be clear that I didn’t help them get the part by having anyone else removed from consideration, as he explained on Instagram.

Let me tell you, as someone who’s seen a lot of celebrity interactions, I was pretty surprised by what Sharon Osbourne shared last September! While playing a game with her daughter Kelly on TopMob News, she revealed that Ashton Kutcher was, in her opinion, the rudest celebrity she’d ever encountered. She didn’t hold back, describing him as a “rude, rude, rude, rude little boy” and even called him a “dastardly little thing.” It was a really candid moment, and definitely sparked some conversation!
He did not respond to her remarks publicly.
Five years ago, Sharon shared with Larry King that Ashton seemed annoyed when he was a guest on The Talk in 2014, after she mispronounced his name.
She remembered him asking, ‘Who are you and what have you accomplished in this field?’ Her response was blunt: ‘Listen, don’t mess with me, because I’ll completely destroy you.’ She essentially warned him, ‘You have no idea who you’re up against, young man.’

In August 2022, Cassadee Pope and Maren Morris publicly disagreed with Brittany Aldean, the wife of country singer Jason Aldean. This followed a post Brittany shared on Instagram on August 23rd, where she thanked her parents for not allowing her to transition during a phase where she preferred traditionally masculine interests, stating she enjoyed her current feminine lifestyle.

In a 2022 TikTok trend, JoJo Siwa called Candace Cameron Bure the “rudest” celebrity she’d met, explaining that Bure once turned down her request for a photo on the red carpet. Soon after, Bure publicly apologized, saying she regretted hurting Siwa’s feelings when she was younger and was truly sorry for not taking the picture.
I was so happy when Candace and her friend made things right. But I was really disappointed to hear her recent comments about the future of Great American Family. She was asked if we’d ever see same-sex couples leading roles in their holiday movies, and she said no. She explained that the network will always focus on what she calls ‘traditional marriage.’ Honestly, it just feels exclusive and not very inclusive, and it’s hard to reconcile that with the spirit of the holidays.
JoJo, who publicly shared they are part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, responded to the actress’ comment on Instagram, calling it “rude and hurtful to an entire community.”

In June 2021, Courtney Love claimed Olivia Rodrigo had copied the album cover art for Hole in a promotional photo without giving credit. Olivia responded with a supportive message, saying, “Love u and live through this sooooo much.” Courtney then playfully replied, “Olivia – you’re welcome. If you want the details, my favorite florist is in Notting Hill, London! DM me. I look forward to reading your note! 😉”

While on Watch What Happens Live, actor Henry Winkler was asked about a difficult relationship he had with Tom Hanks while filming their 1989 movie, Turner & Hooch.
I directed the movie for thirteen days, and then Jeff Katzenberg, the producer, called me into his office and told me to pack up and go home, as I had everything I needed.
Winkler and Hanks’ dog seemed to get along very well. “I really loved that dog,” Winkler said.
He also refused to admit if he’s even seen the flick.

“You know what you did!”
Those who watched The Hills likely recall Lauren’s famous line from the start of season three. The drama between them began when Heidi started dating Spencer Pratt, and it escalated when Lauren claimed Heidi and Spencer spread a false rumor about her and her then-boyfriend, Jason Wahler, alleging they had made a sex tape.

Tyrese and Dwayne Johnson had a public falling out in 2017 after the release date for Fast & Furious 9 was delayed until April 2020. Tyrese voiced his frustration with Dwayne on Instagram. Interestingly, on the same day, a Fast & Furious spin-off film featuring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham was announced for 2019. The following month, Tyrese even said he would leave Fast 9 if Dwayne was still involved.
Tyrese recently discussed the disagreement with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, telling Van Lathan on The Red Pill podcast that he still hasn’t spoken to Johnson directly, though they plan to. He did mention he had talked with one of Johnson’s producing partners, but not with Johnson himself.
Tyrese admitted he often ended up voicing concerns for others involved with the franchise, but he regretted being the only one to publicly share those feelings. He acknowledged it was unprofessional and a mistake on his part.

No more bad blood here.
I was absolutely shocked when Taylor and Katy finally made up! For years, it seemed like they really couldn’t stand each other – there were even rumors that their fight inspired Taylor’s song “Bad Blood.” Apparently, it all started over something silly – a backup dancer and some competition during their tours. But then, right before Taylor’s Reputation Tour started, Katy sent her an actual olive branch! It was such a sweet gesture and a really nice way to end all the drama. As a fan, I was so happy to see them move past it.
Taylor shared in an Instagram video that she found a real olive branch in her dressing room, saying it meant a lot to her.
Taylor captioned the video, “Thank you Katy.”

For years, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, stars of Sex and the City, dismissed rumors of a disagreement. However, those rumors resurfaced when Kim chose not to participate in a third movie and made some pointed comments about her co-star.
In September 2017, during an episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen asked Sarah Jessica Parker how she felt about Kim Cattrall telling Piers Morgan they had only been work colleagues, not friends.
She was deeply upset, saying she felt heartbroken about something. They had talked about it all week, and she explained that she didn’t remember things the same way, finding the situation really distressing.
It’s upsetting, but I believe what truly connects us is the shared experience we had. It started as a job, but over the years it became something deeply personal. I hope that those years of creating something special and connecting with people will outweigh any recent disagreements. It was a real privilege to be a part of.
And though they didn’t film scenes together, Kim did make a small appearance on And Just Like That.

Elton John and Madonna have been publicly disagreeing since 2004. The conflict began when Elton, while accepting an award at the Q Awards that year, strongly criticized Madonna’s live performances. He famously said, “Madonna, best live act? Absolutely not!” and questioned her use of lip-syncing, suggesting anyone who lip-syncs during a paid concert doesn’t deserve praise.

The actress, formerly on Grey’s Anatomy, caused a disagreement with the show’s creator back in 2008 when she asked to not be considered for an Emmy Award. She explained that she didn’t think her storylines that season were strong enough to deserve a nomination.
Shonda Rhimes discussed Katherine Heigl’s departure in a 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey on Oprah’s Next Chapter. She admitted it was both hurtful and expected. “When someone consistently demonstrates their true character, you should believe it,” Shonda explained. “That’s a lesson I’ve really taken to heart, and it’s helped me a lot.”

The fight between Nicki and Cardi at the Harper’s Bazaar Icon party during New York Fashion Week became a major news story. A month later, Cardi publicly explained what caused the argument with Nicki.
Cardi B recently told W magazine that another person has been repeatedly criticizing her. They had talked twice before and seemed to resolve things, but the criticism continued.
The conflict really escalated when Cardi B noticed Nicki Minaj had supposedly reacted to a tweet criticizing Cardi’s parenting, though Nicki claims she didn’t actually engage with it.
Cardi B explained she turned down a potentially hugely profitable Bruno Mars tour because she wanted to be with her daughter. She emphasized how much she loves her daughter and considers herself a great mom. She found it frustrating that someone without children would criticize her for how she spent her time, adding that opportunities to meet artists don’t happen every day – you can’t just run into them at the store or on the street.

The conflict between Kanye West and Taylor Swift began in 2009 when Kanye interrupted her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. While they later reconciled and became friends, their relationship fell apart in 2016 after Kanye released his song “Famous,” which included a reference to Taylor.
Just before the Grammys in February 2025, Kanye West began following Taylor Swift on Instagram. He didn’t offer any explanation for the action, and Taylor didn’t publicly acknowledge it.

“I don’t know her.”
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe how this all started! It’s legendary! Back in 2003, Mariah was doing this interview on German TV, and they asked her about other singers. When they brought up Jennifer Lopez, Mariah just…said she didn’t know her! Like, she literally said, ‘I don’t know her!’ It was so iconic, and honestly, the start of what I believe is the greatest rivalry ever. I’ve been following it religiously ever since, and it all goes back to that one, perfect line!
