Jayson Tatum is eyeing a comeback to the court.
The NBA star isn’t expected to immediately join the Boston Celtics’ starting lineup. He’s been working hard to recover from a serious Achilles tendon injury he suffered during the 2025 playoffs, and will return to the starting five when he feels fully prepared.
Jayson Tatum said in an interview with TopMob News that it’s too soon to say when he’ll be back on the court. He hopes to return this season, but it could be next season – his priority is a complete recovery and being fully healthy when he does play again.
When the Celtics begin their 2025-2026 season against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 22nd, he might not be playing, but he’ll be there supporting Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and the rest of the team from the bench.
Despite the recent injury, Jayson Tatum is expected to play basketball again. That wasn’t certain right after he got hurt, though.
He remembered being completely shocked when he fell to the court during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Knicks in May. He said his career quickly flashed before his eyes, and he wondered what the future held after such an injury, envisioning years of recovery instead of playing.
I considered retiring, thinking I’d already achieved a lot and the challenges ahead were too great,” the 27-year-old said. “But then I realized I’d be letting down my fans. More importantly, I thought about my kids and wanted to show them that everyone faces difficult decisions. I wanted them to see that we all have choices, and I wanted to demonstrate how to make them. I wanted to share what I went through and show them how I handled it.

I wanted to show them that life presents difficult choices, and that it’s up to us to decide how we respond. I wanted them to learn from that.”
He’s been working on his comeback with the support of his family and friends, including his mother, Brandy Cole.
He admitted it’s been a very emotional experience and that he’s done a lot of crying. He feels incredibly grateful for the support he’s received from his mother, children, and friends during this time.
Throughout his recovery, support from friends and family – like when friends made time for him and his mom welcomed him to stay when he had trouble getting around – has been a huge source of encouragement. He says they’ve consistently boosted his spirits when he really needed it.

It’s been a really tough time emotionally, and I’ve definitely shed a lot of tears. I’m incredibly grateful to have my mom, kids, and friends – they’ve been a fantastic support system throughout all of this.

Tatum raved about his oldest son, Deuce, saying the 7-year-old was incredibly helpful. Deuce would assist with everyday tasks like opening doors, fetching Tatum’s scooter, and even bringing him food or his walker so he could shower.
The 2024 NBA Champion also connected with other players – Dejounte Murray, Damian Lillard, and Tyrese Haliburton – who all experienced Achilles tendon tears during the season. Because they were at different stages of recovery, they provided valuable support and advice as he progressed through his own milestones.
“My conversations with Dejounte and Dame were like ‘Yo, what are you doing now?’” he recalled. “How did it feel to walk on the treadmill? How did it feel to get out of the boot? What are your workouts looking like now?’”
He found it beneficial because everyone involved shares similar experiences and understands each other’s challenges.
As someone who’s seen a lot of recovery journeys, I always tell people that no two experiences are ever exactly alike. When I was figuring out my own plan after surgery, finding effective pain relief was a huge priority. That’s actually why I jumped at the chance to work with Vertex Pharmaceutical and share my honest experience with their medication, JOURNAVX. It just felt right to be open about what worked for me.
He explained to TopMob that sharing his experience felt good because it allowed him to be open and honest. He wanted others going through surgery or dealing with chronic pain to know they aren’t alone and that there are different ways to manage their health. He strongly encourages everyone to discuss their medical background and find the best treatment plan with their doctor.
Although the Olympic gold medalist isn’t quite ready to compete yet, he’s back on his feet and has a fresh outlook. He shared that the experience actually made him appreciate basketball more than ever before.
Tatum said the last 19 weeks have been the longest he’s ever gone without playing basketball, even just practicing.
He emphasized that he always wants to play, and he’s acknowledging it will be difficult to watch from the bench as the new season approaches.
It’ll be difficult when the season starts – whether it’s opening night or training camp – if I can’t practice with the team right away and have to wait until I’m fully healthy,” Tatum explained.
He said he’s really excited to play his first game back at TD Garden, whenever that might be, and expects it to be a special experience.
I’ve been following Tatum for a while now, and it’s really powerful to see him open up about his health struggles. He’s definitely not alone, though – so many other celebrities are starting to share their own experiences too, which is inspiring. I’m eager to learn more about what others are going through, so I’m definitely going to keep reading!

She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, saying they would get the issue resolved eventually. She explained to the doctor that as soon as she retired from her current work, she’d return to address the problem and make sure everything looked its best, because she planned to actively use the items in the future and wanted them to be presentable.
Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in *12 Years a Slave*, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids-non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus-in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.
She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, when she shared on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve noticed a really common issue: so many of us are taught from a young age that periods are just supposed to be painful. We’re led to believe it’s simply part of being a woman, and that leads to a lot of us silently struggling with something that impacts *most* of us. It’s time we change that narrative and start prioritizing our well-being!
In July 2025, the actress from *Daisy Jones & The Six* revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap in her abdominal muscles.
She messaged Suki on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, saying, ‘I noticed you haven’t been tweeting lately.’ She then jokingly added, ‘Have you ever thought that maybe I wore pants so tight six months ago that I got a hernia and I’ve just been afraid to mention it?’
The former star of *Beverly Hills, 90210* shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery because his appendix was close to rupturing.

After receiving immediate medical attention on the field, Savannah was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests, according to a statement from the National Women’s Soccer League. They reported that she is currently in stable condition and is alert.
Adam Devine revealed that injuries from being hit by a cement truck at age 11 continue to cause him problems even now.
“It’s been a terrible experience,” Devine shared on the *In Depth With Graham Bensinger* podcast in 2025. “I’ve been having spasms all over my body, and doctors recently told me I was facing a life-threatening situation-within the last year, actually.”
He acknowledged that pain is temporary, explaining that his body has some minor imperfections and isn’t functioning perfectly.
The reality TV star revealed he had to crawl to the hospital because of severe back pain that worsened during a road trip with a friend.
He described a strange tingling sensation that reached from his knees to his toes during a March 2025 episode of his podcast, *Trading Secrets*. He explained that just a few weeks prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a basic squat or stand on one leg without falling. He compared the feeling to having had a stroke.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

In March 2025, the actor from *30 Rock* experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.
The comedian later posted on social media to explain that he had actually gotten food poisoning and was starting to feel better.
In February 2025, the former *Even Stevens* star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday outing with her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a trip to go clay pigeon shooting when the incident occurred.
In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party. They fired a gun unsafely, and the bullet hit her five times. Thankfully, @thebrendanrooney quickly helped, checked her condition, and rushed her to the hospital. One bullet came within an inch of her right eye.
According to the former *Kim Possible* star, a small piece of something got stuck behind her eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, and they’ll continue to monitor her vision, which is currently normal.
The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving a frightening experience. She shared how much she cherishes her daughters, husband, family, and friends, explaining that she realized how precious life is. She urged everyone to hug their loved ones often, because things can change so quickly and unexpectedly.
Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often harsh nature, because it ultimately helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” and receiving negative comments online, doctors began commenting on interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome – a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Schumer to realize she had been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She wouldn’t have known about the condition without the online feedback. Fortunately, doctors determined she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, which Schumer described as “the greatest news imaginable.” She’s now relieved to be healthy.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen firsthand how quickly life can change. Recently, my son, who plays in the AHL, had a scary on-ice accident in December 2024 – he was unfortunately cut by a skate and needed 25 stitches. Thankfully, he’s fully recovered now, and I can honestly say we feel incredibly lucky. It’s something no parent ever wants to experience, and I wouldn’t wish that feeling on anyone.
In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly started having stroke-like symptoms, unable to speak and noticing her face drooping. Although the symptoms briefly subsided, she went to the hospital for evaluation. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA, or transient ischemic attack. Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to reach her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.
The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also mentioned it became increasingly difficult for him to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on *Good Morning America* that Justin was recovering well, calling the situation scary but assuring everyone he would be completely fine and was grateful he was on the mend.
Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the serious health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, *What Had Happened Was…*, Foxx explained that he suffered from a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. He asked for aspirin but lost consciousness before he could take it, and doesn’t remember the next twenty days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, became concerned and took him to the hospital. Doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that resulted in a stroke.
After surgery, twenty days passed before he woke up on May 4th, finding himself in a wheelchair and unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.
Foxx expressed his gratitude for the support he received, saying, “I appreciate every prayer, because I needed every prayer.”
The reality TV star said she briefly stopped breathing while running in the first challenge of the NBC competition show, describing the experience as feeling like she ‘died’.
She shared on the show *Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser* that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, she remembers only darkness, followed by light, which led her to realize she had died that day.
She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially starts to shut down.
Emilia Clarke, known for her role in *Game of Thrones*, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for *The New Yorker*. While filming the series, she experienced a severe headache during a gym workout that quickly escalated. She described feeling violently ill and realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.
A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, leaving her unable to speak clearly.
Though the aphasia eventually passed and she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This surgery was unsuccessful, leading to a major bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive procedure, accessing her brain directly through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia Clarke is now fully recovered and says she is “at a hundred per cent.”
As a wellness advocate, I’m always inspired by stories of resilience, and Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, is a perfect example. She recently shared her health journey with me, and it’s truly remarkable. Back in January 2024, Cori experienced a severe stroke, and she immediately reached out to her family. She told me everyone rallied around her, and their support was incredible. While she could have potentially gone home after the stroke, she ended up needing a longer hospital stay due to some existing health concerns – she’s also managing lupus and was experiencing kidney issues. Thankfully, Cori is now doing wonderfully! She’s been working on regaining some motor skills, but overall, she’s feeling great and is a testament to the power of family and positive thinking.
Shailene Woodley struggled with her health throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue, and digestive issues. She saw many doctors, but received conflicting diagnoses. Determined to find answers, Woodley, who has a background in herbalism, combined traditional medical care with alternative healing methods.
This health journey lasted for ten years and significantly impacted her mental wellbeing. She developed a fear of food due to her stomach problems, which led to body image issues and a struggle with her identity.
Ultimately, Woodley’s physical health improved, and she is now feeling well. She expressed her happiness to be in a healthy place after such a challenging period.
