Jelly Roll is A-OK with trolling his haters.
While filling in as host on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, the artist known for “I’m Not Okay” expressed a message aimed at both his fans and critics during his opening speech.
He expressed his gratitude to his fans on the late-night show on July 17th. ‘I wouldn’t be who I am today without your support,’ he acknowledged. ‘You are truly amazing, most of you. However, there are a few among you who can be difficult. But I’ve always been resilient and won’t let my critics bring me down.’
Instead of that, the 40-year-old began performing a powerful song filled with remarks about him from the internet. He mentioned that the song was in honor of the cruel women on the web who spread negativity online.
As a die-hard fan, I must say that Jelly Roll infused a soulful touch into numerous articles penned about him, such as “Being compelled to listen to Jelly Roll and it’s just not my cup of tea” and “Jelly Roll is essentially Lizzo for the white demographic.
He also sang a post that simply read “F–k Jelly Roll” before quipping, “My wife f–ks Jelly Roll.”
However, the performer unequivocally showed that he hadn’t let negativity penetrate him. To wrap up his act, he sung, “You can’t mock me and say I’m poor, ‘coz I couldn’t care less.” This conveys that he doesn’t feel the need to prove himself to others.
His wife, Bunnie XO, who undoubtedly assists him in blocking out distractions, has been by his side since their marriage in 2016. She is a stepmother to his two children, Bailee Ann, aged 17, and Noah Buddy, 8, from his past relationships.
In a January 2024 episode of the Full Send Podcast, he expressed, “No one recognizes in us the feelings we have for each other, and I believe that’s what makes our love unique and exceptional.
Instead, they’ve been focusing efforts on growing their family through in-vitro fertilization, aiming to conceive a child.
In a video shared on TikTok in March, Bunnie expressed, “I’m experiencing all kinds of emotions, the ups and downs, the anxiety, just for a small token of my husband and me. A tiny piece encased in skin to complement the two wonderful children we share together.

As a lifestyle expert looking back on my personal journey, I can’t help but reminisce about my unique romance with the talented artist, Jelly Roll. Our story unfolded in the vibrant city of Las Vegas during the summer of 2015, when I first crossed paths with him at the Las Vegas Country Club as he performed, long before his fame blossomed. At that time, he was living in a van, and the audience was modest, numbering only about twenty souls.
Despite the humble beginnings, our connection sparked instantly. In an interview on Bussin’ With The Boys podcast in 2023, I vividly recalled feeling an inexplicable pull towards him, as if my soul had recognized his. However, he was not my typical type, and I was not his, but he adored Taylor Swift. Nevertheless, our romantic journey didn’t start immediately. I was trapped in an unhealthy relationship, while Jelly Roll pursued his own path.
Our paths crossed again in October 2015, and I found myself smitten. After my ex was incarcerated, I shared my phone number with a friend, hoping it would reach him. Surprisingly, he would call and text me for advice on raising his daughter, Bailee, from a previous relationship.
Our bond gradually transformed from friendship to something more romantic in July 2016, during one of his visits to Vegas to shoot videos. We were both intoxicated, and I remember our conversation taking an unexpected turn when he asked about my five-year plan. In my tipsy state, I was trying to navigate the intimate moment, while he was discussing his career aspirations.
“Let’s do it,” he said after we shared our goals, sealing the deal for what has become a beautiful and unconventional love story.
Option for paraphrasing:
Bunnie disclosed on Bussin’ With The Boys that she got married to Jelly Roll at Las Vegas’ Stained Glass Wedding Chapel in August 2016, and as promised, they completed their five-year plan, culminating in buying their own house. Another aspiration of Bunnie was to create her own podcast.
When Bunnie left the sex work industry in 2019, Jelly Roll shared on The Howard Stern Show that he asked her about her passions, and she expressed interest in having a talk show. True to form, Bunnie launched the Dumb Blonde podcast later that year and used her earnings to support Jelly Roll’s dreams.
In 2017, Bunnie invested in Jelly Roll’s album “Addiction Kills” and helped him secure custody of his daughter.
Sofia Franklyn’s podcast Sofia with an F was where Bunnie discussed these details.
In the year of 2008, when I was still trapped in the vicious cycle of drug dealing, my precious daughter Bailee entered this world. Little did she know then that she would become the very essence of my salvation.
In a documentary entitled “Jelly Roll: Save Me,” I shared my heartfelt sentiments about her impact on my life, stating that she was unaware of her influence even at such a tender age.
Bailee joined my life when she was just two years old, a time when I was barely scraping the surface of my music career, living in a van. Although I admitted to being a less-than-present father during those early days, my perspective shifted dramatically as I fought for full custody amidst her mother’s battle with addiction.
Though Bunnie and I were only beginning our relationship at that time, she stood by me, investing in a lawyer and financing the entire endeavor. Our lives took a dramatic turn as we re-evaluated our choices.
Bunnie articulated this transformation on the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast, expressing her doubts about taking Bailee away from her mother and bringing her into our chaotic life filled with substance abuse. She questioned, “Who were we to do that if we were just as lost?” Her words resonated deeply within me, prompting a profound realization: I was ready to break free from the shackles of addiction. And just like that, I never touched a pill again.
Bunnie also embraced her maternal role wholeheartedly. On Bailee’s Sweet 16 birthday in 2024, she penned a heartfelt message on social media, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to be Bailee’s mother and acknowledging the profound impact my daughter had on her life: “Thank you Papa Roll for giving me the chance to be the mom I never had. But most importantly-Thank you to the sweetest, sassiest 16 year old for teaching me the most healing life lessons ever these past 8 years & letting me be your mama.
In August 2016, just before Jelly Roll got married to Bunnie and while he was pursuing custody of Bailee, they welcomed their son Noah into their family. Upon his birth, the “Need a Favor” artist expressed his feelings on Facebook, saying “God Bless this Child to be everything I am not!” He also prayed that neither Noah nor Bailee would ever have to bear the consequences of their father’s actions.
Over time, Jelly Roll and Bunnie have kept most aspects of Noah’s life private. However, they occasionally offer glimpses into his world. For example, in July 2023, Bunnie shared a TikTok video where she asked him questions like what his favorite sport was (soccer) and what he liked to do at the beach (play in the water). She made sure to mention that she had obtained her mother’s permission before posting the video, commenting “always mama approved first.”
Bunnie and Jelly Roll maintain a good relationship with Noah’s mother. In a 2023 Facebook post, Bunnie praised her, writing “She’s one stand-up chick & we couldn’t imagine our lives without her,” adding that she holds things together for baby Noah and them, especially since they are often on the road.
Bunnie also cherishes her role as his stepmother. In an October 2024 Instagram post, she expressed her feelings after Noah attended one of his dad’s shows, stating “Nothing brings me more joy than getting to watch my bonus babies grow up.” She continued, expressing gratitude for his mother and adding that being a part of his life since the day he was born is a privilege.
Two years following their marriage in 2016, Jelly Roll and Bunnie parted ways. However, their affection refused to fade, and they found themselves drawn back together later that same year. On TikTok in February 2023, Bunnie penned, “Who would have thought our separation in 2018, my return to Las Vegas, and your pursuit of me – would lead us on this incredible journey called life.” They ultimately decided to stand by each other, fulfilling all the vows they made during their initial encounter. Their once fragile sandcastle had to fall apart for them to rebuild on a stronger foundation. I love you so deeply, Bunnie.
As Jelly Roll’s fame grew, he and Bunnie made their debut on a red carpet together at the 2022 CMA Awards. In the documentary, “Jelly Roll: Save Me”, she said they were like misfits from the country era, implying they didn’t fit in but they were there nonetheless.
In 2023, seven years after their initial wedding ceremony, Jelly Roll and Bunnie reaffirmed their commitment to each other by renewing their vows. Reflecting on their first wedding day, the podcaster reminisced in a heartfelt tribute about how the Grammy-nominated artist had promised her that their lives wouldn’t always be as they were, and that together, they would find a solution. True to his word, he fulfilled that promise.
As Bunnie put it in her September 2023 message, “I had no idea what the future held for us, but I didn’t care as long as you were by my side to face it.” The past seven years, she continued, have been a tumultuous fairy tale filled with challenges. They worked tirelessly to overcome their childhood traumas and learn to love in a healthy manner, all while striving to create a home where their daughter, Bailee, could take pride. Through everything life threw at them, they walked side by side, hand in hand, facing adversities with a smile.
Looking ahead, Bunnie expressed her admiration for Jelly Roll, calling him “the missing puzzle piece,” her “safe space,” and the man who makes her dance in her feminine energy. She also referred to him as her best friend, hero, and the greatest man she’s ever known. They will continue their journey together, facing whatever life brings them hand in hand.
They maintain a peaceful coexistence, and it’s worth noting that Bunnie has influenced several of Jelly Roll’s songs, such as “Woman” and “Kill a Man,” among others. When discussing the latter track with Entertainment Tonight, he expressed, “She’s the best, man.” Regarding this song, he stated, “I have endeavored to write 1,000 love songs, and I thought they were all a bit cheesy. So I was thinking, ‘How do I write a love song while preserving my masculinity but also baring my soul about how deeply in love I am?'” He further explained, “I can’t see any other woman on Earth but her, and I wanted to compose a song that reflected this vulnerability.” Jelly Roll and Bunnie have collaborated in the music videos for both “Wheels Fall Off” and “Lonely Road,” featuring Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox.
Regardless of where she is – be it attending events or at home, Bunnie has always been Jelly Roll’s most enthusiastic supporter. In a tribute penned for his 2024 CMT Music Awards, she referred to him as “my visionary husband, the maestro of misfits.” She acknowledged that his success wasn’t an overnight achievement, but rather the culmination of twenty years of hard work.
This journey, according to her, was marked by days when they doubted if anyone was listening to their music and nights that transformed into packed arenas. She expressed admiration for how Jelly Roll poured his soul into his writing, creating therapeutic hymns that resonated deeply with those who needed healing.
“Your music,” she wrote, “kisses the cracks of their souls and, even if just for a moment, they know they are understood and seen.” The couple’s unwavering support for each other throughout this journey has touched fans deeply.
In her tribute, Bunnie also described Jelly Roll as an “instrument of healing” whose voice reaches the world like a choir. She declared her love for him, expressing gratitude for being by his side in this life and every other one she’s fortunate enough to share with him.
Jelly Roll, too, acknowledges Bunnie’s support and influence. In a message for their eighth anniversary, he praised the impact she has on people, especially women, through her social media and podcast activities, stating that it fills his heart with joy.
Make no doubt, Bunnie XO won’t tolerate any disrespect towards her partner.
On a 2024 episode of Dumb Blonde, she defended Jelly Roll against hurtful online comments about his weight.
“My husband stepped away from the internet because he’s exhausted from being bullied over his weight,” she said. “It makes me want to cry because he’s an incredible soul.”
Although Jelly Roll doesn’t openly show his feelings, Bunnie pointed out that these comments do impact him.
“People can say whatever they want about you online, and they say ‘You’re a celebrity; you should be able to handle it,'” she continued. “But we’re not supposed to.”
Bunnie emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable.
“Don’t bully people,” she said. “You never know what someone is going through mentally.”
She also made it clear that she won’t ignore bullying remarks.
“I’m sorry, I’ll stand up for all the underdogs,” she noted. “You’ll never intimidate me or lie about me and my family. I’ll fight till the end.
Jelly Roll and his wife, Bunnie, have been candid about their attempts to expand their family. After the “Son of a Sinner” star publicly discussed considering having a baby, Bunnie detailed their steps in an Instagram post from June 2024.
In her post, she explained, “We initially intended to keep this private, but we decided that our IVF journey should be shared because we’ve always been transparent.” She went on to say, “Given the challenges we face, it’s already been tough, and we have only just started.”
Despite the difficulties, they continue to remain hopeful. Bunnie added, “We’ve been meeting with IVF specialists and investigating all our options to grow our family. J and I are both filled with excitement and fear at the same time. We never thought we’d want to add to our family, but something changed this year, and we both just yearn for a part of us to join our already wonderful family that includes Bailee and Noah.
