Jennifer Garner Makes Rare Comment on “Hard” Ben Affleck Divorce

Jennifer Garner is getting candid about her divorce from Ben Affleck 10 years later.

As someone who’s followed celebrity relationships for years, I’ve always been fascinated by how people handle breakups, especially when the world is watching. I was thinking about Jennifer Garner recently, and how she dealt with her split from Ben Affleck. They separated back in 2015, and it took until 2018 to finalize everything legally, but she’s talked about what that whole experience was like for her, and it’s really insightful.

Jennifer recently told Marie Claire U.K. that she realized her limits and couldn’t cope with the pressures she faced. However, she clarified that the actual challenges weren’t what she struggled with, but something else entirely.

What was truly difficult was the reality of it all – the pain of a family falling apart, and the loss of a genuine partnership and friendship.

Jennifer, 53, doesn’t worry about what people say about her personal life. She explains that listening to gossip – about herself, her children, or anyone else – isn’t helpful, so she chooses not to engage with it.

Now, she and Ben, both 53, are able to peacefully and calmly co-parent their three children: Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 13.

She admitted she’s constantly amazed by her life. She’s grateful to still be working and healthy, and overjoyed that her children are well. She especially cherishes her long-lasting work relationships, which feel like family, and have only grown stronger over the past 25 to 30 years. She considers it all a blessing.

Jennifer Garner, known for her role in Alias, has been with tech executive John Miller since 2018, and she says she feels incredibly loved right now.

She emphasized that women should remember time offers a chance for healing and reconciliation, even when they believe a relationship or feeling is lost forever. Time allows us to forgive, move forward, and potentially rebuild friendships in new ways.

They are definitely not getting back together. However, with all the recent interactions – birthday celebrations, affectionate hugs, and even playfully acting out a romantic scene in a virtual reading of Fast Times at Ridgemont High – it feels like they’re just teasing everyone who hoped they’d reconcile.

Sarah proved she’s confident and playful when she appeared on her ex-husband Jimmy’s talk show. She was there to promote her new series, I Love You, America, and playfully teased Jimmy about his wife, Molly Kimmel, describing her as “cute,” “bright,” and “funny.” Jokingly, Sarah complained, “It’s not fair! She got the updated, more aware Jimmy. I only had the Man Show Jimmy.”

Honestly, it seems like some people are still more upset about this relationship ending than the people who were actually in it. When Anna—who is now married to Michael Barrett—found out Chris Pratt was getting married to Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019, she surprisingly offered to perform the wedding ceremony. She even sent a gift when their daughter, Lyla, was born in August 2020. A source told TopMob News that Anna was “very supportive” and happy for her son, Jack, to have a little sister.

Their breakup could have easily led to disaster, but four years later, these HGTV stars are thriving. They’re successfully co-parenting their children, Taylor and Brayden, and continuing to renovate dilapidated houses into beautiful homes for others.

Lenny Kravitz and his ex-wife, actress Zoë Kravitz’s mother, still feel incredibly close – he described them as “best friends” in a 2013 interview with Oprah Winfrey. Despite their divorce and her subsequent marriage to and split from Jason Momoa in 2020, they maintain a strong family connection. Lenny calls it a “beautiful” example of how things can work out, emphasizing their continued closeness.

Oh my gosh, when Derek Hough and Hannah Ann Sluss broke up back in 2020, I was devastated, but honestly, they’ve been SO good about staying friendly ever since! It just warms my heart to see them proving everyone wrong and showing they still care about each other, even after everything. They’re just the cutest!

Okay, seriously, when Brooks announced he was marrying Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir in December 2024, I almost lost it! I was SO thrilled for them! I immediately went to Instagram and saw Julianne’s post – it was perfect! She wrote the sweetest message, saying how happy she was for them as they started this new chapter and wishing them a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventures. Honestly, they’re the cutest, and I’m just so happy for both of them!

The dancer, her ex-husband, and his pregnant fiancée spent a day together at the lake. She shared a photo of the four of them, calling them “three cuties” and describing it as a special day.

Since splitting up in 2015, the parents of Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel have managed a remarkably friendly co-parenting relationship. They continue to take vacations and celebrate holidays together, and Ben has publicly praised his ex-partner, calling her “an amazing mother” in a 2016 interview with TopMob News.

Nina and Ian dated for three years before breaking up in 2013, but they stayed friends. The following year, Nina began dating Nikki Reed and quickly became friends with her. Nikki and Nina later married.

The couple broke up in July 2016 after being together for five years. The singer later shared on Howard Stern’s radio show in October that she remained very close to her ex, describing him as both a former lover and a longtime friend.

“We love each other,” she said. “That’s it.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen a lot of on-screen chemistry, and the connection between my former co-star, B.J. Novak, and me on The Office was definitely something special! Even years after the show ended in 2013, people still root for us as a couple, and honestly, I get why! I told Good Housekeeping a while back that choosing B.J. to be a godfather to my children felt natural. We’ve become more like family than just friends, and that’s a really beautiful thing.

After their divorce was finalized in 2011, the former couple easily continued to raise their son, Bronx. The Fall Out Boy singer has praised his ex-wife, calling her a fantastic mother.

It sounds like she’s moved on from their past relationship. The singer has described being on good terms with his former partner, saying they remain friendly and have a positive connection.

Jennifer and her Dexter co-star first became acquainted on the show’s set in 2006, and their relationship turned romantic two years later. Even after their divorce in 2011, Jennifer later shared that they maintained a loving and respectful relationship.

I’ve always admired Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, and they continue to amaze me! They’re the ultimate example of exes who prioritize their kids and maintain a genuinely friendly relationship. So it didn’t surprise me at all when they decided to quarantine together in Idaho with their daughters, Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout. It just felt like the natural thing to do for their family, and honestly, the thought of them having a dance party during lockdown makes me smile!

Even four years after their 2014 split, Jennifer Lopez continued to praise her ex-husband, and the father of her twins, Max and Emme. In a 2018 interview on Sunday Today, she shared how Marc Anthony boosted her self-assurance. He consistently told her she was a talented singer and encouraged her not to listen to anyone who said otherwise. Lopez deeply respected him, considering him one of the greatest singers ever.

Despite any personal struggles, the actress remains supportive of her ex-husband and former Scream colleague. She described their divorce, eight years after it finalized in 2010, as “one of the better ones.” Appearing on Running Wild With Bear Grylls, she added that they’ve successfully co-parented their daughter, Coco.

I’ll always be a fan of Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake, even though their relationship ended back in 2007. What I love is that they still had amazing chemistry on screen a few years later in Bad Teacher – they totally sizzled together!

Although their 2013 breakup was difficult at first, the actors have reached a comfortable place where they can even vacation together. Speaking to LaPalme Magazine, the Twilight star shared that he enjoys a good relationship with his ex-wife’s husband. He described a 2017 trip to Cancun with his ex-wife, her husband Garth, their three daughters – Luca, Lola, and Fiona – and Peter’s now-fiancée, Lily Anne Harrison. He explained that relationships evolve, and just because a couple separates doesn’t mean they can’t still care for each other. “People come into your life for a reason, and relationships can change,” he said.

Even though they unexpectedly separated in September 2012, the couple worked hard to appear supportive of each other for their children’s sake. In a 2014 interview with Howard Stern, she explained that she and Will remained close friends and were successfully co-parenting. She didn’t view their ten-year marriage as a failure, believing that all relationships face challenges.

The Grammy-winning artist and her ex-husband, who officially divorced in January 2024, have maintained a friendly relationship while raising their son, Hayes. They even live only five minutes apart, making it easy to co-parent.

“Our stops are really easy,” Maren told The Zoe Report in May 2025, “and we’ll have family dinners.”
