The tradition of the showās famous āspirit tunnelā started with a personal gesture, as the 2026 Grammy nominee for The Gift of Love explained to Zuri Hall on Live From TopMob: Grammys 2026. āIt originally started for me,ā they said, ābut then I thought we should do it for our guests, and itās really grown from there.ā
And yes, they still line up to hype the host, because who couldn’t use that energy before showtime?
“Even when I come out,” Hudson said, “they still do it to get me amped.”
Oh my gosh, let me tell you, the absolute moment of the 2026 Grammys red carpet was Jennifer Hudson’s dress! It was black leather, and seriously, the slit was to die for. I’m still thinking about it, honestly. You absolutely HAD to see it ā all the fashion was amazing, but hers was justā¦ everything!
Hudson jokingly pointed out her high-slit dress, saying, “My leg is getting a lot of attention!” She added with a playful tone, “This is the grand finale ā I showed off the other leg last night. If you didn’t see it, let’s rewind!”
She showcased her leg in a stylish black coat dress at the pre-Grammy gala on January 31st, an event honoring Avery and Monte Lipman.
At the awards show on February 1st at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Hudson said she was simply happy to be a nominee, and enjoyed being able to express herself through her outfit.
She described her album, The Gift of Love, as something she created purely out of enthusiasm. She was thrilled just to be nominated for a Grammy, saying it was a wonderful surprise and a huge honor to be recognized.
She’s only been nominated for one award tonight ā Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album ā but she is an EGOT winner. That means she’s one of just 22 people ever to have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award, all for competitive work ā joining the ranks of people like Steven Spielberg, who achieved this feat tonight as well.
