I was really excited about Seth Rogen’s upcoming Disney+ special honoring the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show, and thought it would be the biggest Muppet news of 2025. But surprisingly, it’s not! (It’s still incredibly cool, though.) That honor actually goes to a new project starring Miss Piggy, which Jennifer Lawrence just announced.
I’m already excited about the new psychological thriller starring Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, Die My Love—the trailer left me feeling really uneasy! But her next project sounds completely different. She’s working with some amazing talent on a movie all about the iconic Miss Piggy.
Lawrence revealed the big news while appearing on the podcast Los Culturistas, hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers.
I’m not sure I was supposed to share this yet, but Emma Stone and I are producing a movie about Miss Piggy, and Cole is writing the script.
Jennifer Lawrence is talking about Cole Escola, a talented performer who recently achieved major success. He earned a Tony Award and other accolades for writing and starring in the play Oh Mary!, a funny show about Mary Todd Lincoln. He even appeared, in full costume, on Jeopardy! last season, recording a whole category of clues, and it was a hit.
Escola has become well-known for their unique brand of comedy, appearing in popular live-action shows like Difficult People, At Home with Amy Sedaris, and Search Party. They’ve also lent their voice to numerous animated series, including The Simpsons, Big Mouth, Human Resources, Digman!, What We Do in the Shadows, and countless others.

Jennifer Lawrence and Cole Escola would already make a fantastic duo, but adding Emma Stone to the team is even better. Stone is currently receiving praise for her role in the thriller Bugonia, and she previously worked with Seth Rogen in her first film, Superbad, creating a connection between this project and the upcoming TV special. Stone is also an executive producer and former co-star with Escola on the HBO comedy Fantasmas, where they played fictional reality TV personalities.

There’s a huge list of celebrities who could be in a Miss Piggy movie – I’m imagining everyone from Taylor Swift and Donatella Versace to Meghan Markle! But Amy Sedaris would be a fantastic addition, too. I’ll probably hold off on contacting my representative until the movie is officially happening.
This project probably won’t be ready to release with the other movies coming out in 2026, and honestly, I’m willing to wait a long time for it – maybe until they start sending pigs to space! (It would be amazing to see ‘Pigs in Space,’ right?) But that also makes me wonder which other Muppets deserve a comeback.
