Jennifer Lawrence is taking a page from her new mom playbook.
After having her second child with husband Cooke Maroney a few months ago, the actress known for “Die My Love” shared how becoming a mother to their 3-year-old son, Cy, shifted her perspective on life.
In a recent interview with WMagazine, Jennifer, 35, shared that while she felt an immediate and strong connection with her first child, she quickly noticed that everyday life wasn’t set up to easily support that bond.
She explained that everything changes after becoming a parent. You start to question how you can possibly leave your baby to return to work – things like driving away or even flying on a plane suddenly seem impossible. It completely shifts your perspective.
But as she navigated all the changes motherhood brought to her, she wasn’t doing so alone.
Becoming a mom, especially the first time, I really relied on my community and other moms,” she shared with TopMob News at her movie premiere earlier this month. “It’s so important to be able to connect with other women and ask, ‘Is what I’m experiencing normal?'”
Although the Academy Award-winning actress has friends like Emma Stone who understand motherhood, she’s built a diverse network of support for herself.
“Even just meeting moms from the park,” Jennifer noted, “or mommy-and-me class or eventually meeting other parents in my son’s school.”
Her personal experiences informed her performance in the film Die My Love, where she portrays a young mother battling postpartum depression.
She told TopMob it became clear to her how damaging isolating herself would be for her mental health. Being a mother actually gave her more insight into this than she might have had otherwise.

As someone who’s followed her career closely, I’ve noticed a beautiful shift since she became a mom. It’s not just this one film – motherhood has deeply influenced everything she’s created since welcoming her children. You can really see a new layer of depth and perspective in her work now.
Becoming a parent completely transforms your life,” the Hunger Games actor shared at a press event during the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in May. “It’s both really challenging and amazing. Every work decision – what I do, where I do it, and when – now revolves around my kids.”
She added, “They’ve changed my life, obviously, for the best and they’ve changed me creatively.”
