Jensen Ackles’ The Boys Prequel Just Got a Big Update Fans Will Love

The upcoming “Vought Rising,” a prequel to “The Boys” series, has expanded its cast. According to Variety, four more actors have joined the Jensen Ackles-led spinoff. Jorden Myrie from “Bridgerton,” Nicolò Pasetti from “Industry,” Ricky Staffieri from “The Bear,” and Brian J. Smith from “Sense8” are set to join Ackles and fellow “The Boys” actor Aya Cash. Set in the 1950s, the series is being overseen by showrunner Paul Grellong, who will also serve as an executive producer alongside “The Boys” creator Eric Kripke. Production on this eagerly anticipated prequel series is expected to commence this month, although a specific date has yet to be announced.

As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that four new faces are set to grace our screens alongside Will Hochman and Elizabeth Posey in the forthcoming show. Their roles, however, remain shrouded in mystery for now. As for another character, it seems Bombsight might make an appearance, portrayed by Mason Dye during The Boys’ fifth and concluding season. Although he hasn’t been officially confirmed for Vought Rising, speculations are rife that the character will also feature in the prequel series given his active involvement in the ’50s.

Titled “Vought Rising“, a new series with an immediate greenlight last summer, is characterized as a captivating and intricate murder mystery. Set in the 1950s, this upcoming show delves into the initial adventures of Jensen Ackles’ character, Soldier Boy. The prequel will further introduce Aya Cash’s superhero, Stormfront. Ackles debuted as Soldier Boy in the third season of The Boys, while Cash made her appearance as Stormfront/Clara Vought in the second season of the critically acclaimed Amazon Prime Video series. For now, specifics about the prequel series are being kept confidential.

As Amazon Prime Video prepares to bid farewell to The Boys with its upcoming fifth season, they’re eagerly looking forward to growing the show’s fanbase even more. Apart from the animated anthology series The Boys: Diabolical and college-centered Gen V, they’re also working on The Boys: Mexico. The second season of Gen V is scheduled for release in September, and Vought Rising will be the next installment of The Boys to start filming.

Initially, “The Boys” made its debut on Amazon Prime Video back in July 2019. This series draws inspiration from a comic book of the same name created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which is published by Dynamite Entertainment. The series was highly acclaimed by both critics and viewers, garnering an impressive 85% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Over time, the show has managed to retain its audience base, and even boosted its Rotten Tomatoes score, with the latest season earning a remarkable 92% Fresh rating on the site.

The new season of “The Boys” is bringing back Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, and it’s set to feature a small reunion from his “Supernatural” days with co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins also appearing. Production for “Vought Rising” will start later this month, and fans are eagerly waiting for updates on the prequel before “The Boys” wraps up its final season next year.
