Jeremy Renner Provided An Optimistic Take On Hawkeye Season 2 Following Contract Claims, But I Still Have One Concern

With Marvel’s TV plans constantly changing, there’s been a lot of talk about whether some shows will get renewed. Series like *Ms. Marvel* and *Moon Knight* have been the subject of rumors, and the 2021 show *Hawkeye*, starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, is also being discussed. While Marvel hasn’t made any official announcements, Renner recently hinted at good news. Despite this, I’m still a little worried about whether a second season will actually happen.

What Did Jeremy Renner Say About Doing Hawkeye Season 2?

For a while now, fans have been wondering if Jeremy Renner will return as Hawkeye in a second season of the Disney+ series. Renner has given mixed signals over time, and earlier this year, he revealed he’d discussed the possibility with Marvel Studios. However, he claimed the offer he received to continue playing the character – one of the original Avengers – wasn’t financially satisfying. More recently, at Florida SuperCon (according to Popverse), Renner indicated he *would* be willing to play Hawkeye again if given the chance.

I’m committed to working with Marvel as long as the projects are a good fit and exciting. I really enjoyed playing Hawkeye and believe there are still many stories to tell with that character. We spent a lot of time planning the direction of a potential second season, and I’m focused on being prepared when the time is right. If Marvel and the audience still want to continue, I’m definitely open to it.

In my opinion, *Hawkeye* is a particularly enjoyable addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on Disney+. The series, set during Christmastime, follows Clint Barton as he mentors young archer Kate Bishop while facing off against the Tracksuit Mafia in New York City. Beyond introducing Hailee Steinfeld as the fantastic Kate Bishop, the show is strong because it deepens Clint’s character, something Jeremy Renner really embraced.

I really enjoyed the chance to develop my character in a more realistic setting. It was a lot more engaging and offered more opportunities for exploration, which was great. I’ve always wanted to do more physically demanding work, and after a recent event, I’m working to get back in shape so I can perform the action sequences – things like archery and acrobatics – again. I’m making good progress.

It’s been a few years since Jeremy Renner’s terrifying accident with his snowplow – I still remember being shocked when I heard he’d been run over by that massive machine while trying to help his nephew. That happened back in 2023, and thankfully, even with some tough recovery moments, he seems to be doing incredibly well now, even hitting the gym hard. But honestly, while I’m so glad he’s healthy, that’s not really what I’m thinking about when it comes to whether we’ll get more episodes of *Hawkeye*.

There’s One Reason I’m Cautiously Optimistic About Hawkeye Season 2

My biggest issue with Marvel’s Multiverse Saga is that some of the stories haven’t lived up to their potential. While many projects start with interesting ideas, they don’t always come together to create compelling narratives. Shows like *Secret Invasion*, *Moon Knight*, and *Echo* all struggled with the writing to some extent. So, if they decide to make another season of the *Hawkeye* show, I hope the creators have a really solid story planned before they start filming.

Disney+ now offers a plan with ads for as little as $9.99 per month. You can watch the new series *Hawkeye* and other Marvel Cinematic Universe favorites! For an ad-free experience, it’s $15.99 a month, or you can save 16% by paying $159.99 for a full year. See the deal here.

Recent Marvel movies haven’t always had the strongest stories, but a compelling narrative could be built around Hawkeye and Kate Bishop. Perhaps the creative team could draw inspiration from the *Hawkeye: Kate Bishop* series, where Kate teams up with her sister to investigate a mystery. It seems likely the writers could also naturally involve Clint Barton in the story.

Whether we’ll actually get another season of *Hawkeye* depends on Marvel Studios giving it the go-ahead, and that’s not guaranteed right now. However, Jeremy Renner’s excitement and continued fan support might be enough to make it happen. If it does get renewed, I’m hoping the next season will be a strong story – and a bullseye, if you will.
