Jeremy Renner’s MCU Future Gets Encouraging Update After Contract Dispute

In the forthcoming movie titled “Avengers: Doomsday“, several teams of superheroes will unite to take on Doctor Doom, yet Jeremy Renner’s character, Hawkeye, is not part of this gathering. However, Renner remains hopeful about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, despite a disagreement over contracts that derailed a planned “Hawkeye” Season 2. In an interview with Empire, Renner expressed his continued affection for the MCU and the Hawkeye character, emphasizing his physical readiness. He is optimistic about a second season of “Hawkeye” and believes there may be additional appearances for Clint Barton beyond that.

Renner expressed his constant joy being part of that particular universe, stating he adores everyone involved and cherishes the character. He’s confident they’ll proceed with Season 2 and further projects. He’s ready to take on these roles again, though he jokes about whether anyone wants to see him in tights, but he promises his physique will be fit in them.

Despite a successful debut on Disney+ for Hawkeye in 2021, a subsequent season didn’t follow. Jeremy Renner recently disclosed the reason behind this absence: Disney presented him with an offer lower than what he had previously earned, prompting him to decline. Renner emphasized that Marvel Studios wasn’t responsible; instead, he pointed fingers at the budget-conscious individuals in Disney’s financial department.

Earlier, Renner clarified some speculation about Hawkeye Season 2 drawing inspiration from The Raid by crafting a high-octane narrative within a confined location. He confirmed that part of the rumors held merit and expressed enthusiasm among the team for a follow-up series. Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum hinted at the possibility of Hawkeye Season 2, highlighting the engaging character interactions and festive holiday setting as appealing factors.

It’s heartening to know that Renner remains enthusiastic about reprising his role as Hawkeye and expects some developments ahead. Following his discussion on salary disagreements, fans might have presumed that Renner was contemplating leaving the MCU for a fresh career phase. However, his optimism regarding his future as Hawkeye is reassuring. This suggests that the contractual problems that initially delayed Hawkeye Season 2 may be a thing of the past. Renner clarified that he did not demand an increase in payment during his discussions with Disney, so as long as they continue to pay him the same wage as Season 1, he is ready to proceed.

It’s possible that Marvel may reduce its production of movies and TV shows, which raises questions about whether we’ll see a second season of Hawkeye. Given their plans, it might not fit into their current lineup. However, given that the Multiverse Saga is ongoing, there should still be a place for Hawkeye’s character. With Doctor Doom causing chaos and Thor remaining part of the action, it seems unlikely that one of the original Avengers would be missing. There’s a chance Renner could reappear in the cast of Doomsday.
