Jeremy Sisto Explains Why FBI’s Fall Finale Event ‘Needs To Be Two Hours,’ And The Action-Packed Preview Makes More Sense Now

The last episodes of CBS’s FBI before the show’s winter break are almost here, and the first half of Season 8 will conclude with a dramatic, explosive two-hour finale on December 15th. Actor Jeremy Sisto has revealed that the case is so complex it requires two episodes to resolve, offering more detail than the recent trailer and promising an intense experience for viewers.

The next two episodes of the show, titled “Lone Wolf” and “Wolf Pack,” will air Monday night and will also be available to stream the following day on Paramount+. While the team initially plans for a holiday-themed episode, a murder investigation quickly pulls them into a much bigger and potentially devastating case, as shown in the trailer. New York City is about to face chaos, and Jubal will be particularly stressed after receiving concerning news about his son, Tyler.

Jubal frequently juggles his work with family matters, which becomes especially challenging when a case is this complex. The preview made me question how the show could fit everything into a single two-hour episode, but after talking with Jeremy Sisto, it made more sense. He revealed the cast was aware this midseason finale would be a major event.

We knew the fall finale would be two hours long and involve Jubal more than usual, but I didn’t fully grasp what that meant until I read the scripts.

Viewers will need to tune in on December 15th to learn the details of what the upcoming episodes reveal about the character Jubal, especially with the show’s return in 2026. However, Jeremy Sisto hinted at why this week’s case needed a two-hour format instead of the usual one, explaining:

There are significant setbacks and challenges. The story requires two hours because we can’t resolve the intense danger and consequences within a single episode. We don’t succeed in preventing a major problem, and things quickly escalate towards something even more catastrophic. This increasing tension feels organic and natural.

Each week on FBI, the team usually encounters a couple of initial setbacks during their investigations. However, a significant number of complications suggests this case will be particularly challenging to solve before the show’s mid-season break. The season began with a shocking death and confirmed Isobel’s survival after a cliffhanger, immediately raising the tension. These upcoming episodes will also be the first to explore how Jubal is coping with the news that he won’t be promoted to Special Agent in Charge, as the actor explained.

Because we’re so personally involved in the project, we’ve been able to create something with more depth and length. Each episode feels like a complete movie, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the final result.

Usually, previews for FBI are pretty vague about what’s coming up, but the promo for the fall finale packed in a lot of action. It almost seemed like the preview revealed everything that would happen, but since the finale is two hours long and includes what appears to be a significant personal storyline for Jubal, I believe there are still plenty of surprises in store.
