Jessica Simpson is steppin’ out for a public affair.
At the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards held on September 7, the artist renowned for “With You” made her return to the stage since 2006, captivating everyone with a striking black lace ensemble featuring intricate cutouts around her chest.
To complete her unique outfit for the infrequent occasion, Jessica chose to style her hair in a neat ponytail and added bold chain-link earrings as accessories. (Take a look at every celebrity on the VMAs red carpet here.)
Jessica, accompanied by her sister Ashley Simpson, is scheduled to make a presentation at the upcoming award ceremony, which is being held by LL Cool J at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
As the two-time VMA nominee teased in a Sept. 2 Instagram post, “Back to where it all began!”
Previously choosing to distance herself from the world of music, Jessica came back in a compelling manner in March by releasing her EP titled “Nashville Canyon, Part 1“.
And just days before her VMAs appearance, Jessica dropped Nashville Canyon: Pt 2.
On Instagram, September 5, she revealed that the next installment of “Nashville Canyon: Part 1” serves as a raw expression of her emotions. It’s a tale centered around healing, truthfulness, and discovering power within one’s vulnerability.
Jessica, who announced her separation from Eric Johnson in January, went on to say, “This experience is authentic, genuine, and reflective of my personal growth as an artist. It’s now time for me to impart the beauty of self-discovery onto you all. I have never felt more vibrant.

Indeed, it’s been a transformative year for the Newlyweds alum.
She shared with TopMob News in May that she feels incredibly in sync with her life’s mission, and everything seems to be falling into place. Additionally, she expressed a sense of peace and radiance unlike anything she’s felt before, attributing it to some higher or spiritual force watching over her.
Jessica, mother of Maxwell (13 years old), Ace (12), and Birdie (6), alongside her partner Eric, shared, “As a child of a preacher, I was raised to follow orders. I did as told by the record label and had my duties. However, now, my responsibilities are self-driven – I aim to be authentic, unfiltered, and produce the music that resonates with me.
