Jessica Simpson just made the details of her tanning routine a public affair.
Okay, so I’ve been following Jessica Simpson for years, and there’s always been this crazy rumor going around that she used to spend a thousand dollars every week on keeping her tan! But she finally set the record straight – it’s just not true! I’m so relieved, honestly. It’s amazing to finally hear it from her!
“A thousand dollars? Wow, I’d honestly rather have relaxed in the sun,” Jessica said in an interview with Elle on April 2nd. “It might depend on whether that amount is supposed to include a vacation, too.”
She confessed that playing Daisy Duke in the 2005 film The Dukes of Hazzard meant she had to be very careful about getting a tan.
She remembered needing to appear tanned for the four-month-long shoot, where she was often nearly nude. To feel confident during filming, she relied on spray tans and body makeup, but she was careful to avoid an overly orange look, so she first got a light tan as a base. It was all carefully planned.
I used to obsess over sunscreen, carefully choosing different SPFs for different body parts. I’d use SPF 15 on my stomach, but SPF 50 on my knees, always trying to prevent wrinkles – I was constantly calculating the best protection for each area.
These days, Jessica is just as serious about sunscreen as she was about tanning in the early 2000s.
For me, a perfect vacation is all about getting a healthy, sun-kissed tan. I’m definitely the type who loves to relax with friends. We used to constantly be turning each other to get even coverage – I always joke we looked like rotisserie chickens! Now, we’ve gotten a little more sophisticated and take turns applying sunscreen for each other, which is much better.

Jessica says her 12-year-old son, Ace, is still reluctant to use suncare, just like she used to be. However, her daughters, 14-year-old Maxwell and 7-year-old Birdie, are generally good about protecting their skin. Maxwell, her teenage daughter, has even become interested in skincare and now shares new routines with Jessica.
Jessica often talks about her children, including her youngest daughter, Birdie, who recently turned another year older on March 23rd. Jessica’s ex-partner, Eric Johnson, shared a touching message on Instagram, describing Birdie as a hilarious and expressive child who brings joy and emotion to everyone around her.
Turns out the story about Jessica’s expensive tanning wasn’t true, but keep reading for real confessions from other celebrities.
Jessica, who has three children – Maxwell, 14, Ace, 12, and Birdie, 7 – with her ex-husband Eric Johnson, always makes sure her kids wear sunscreen when they play outdoors.
She told Elle magazine that she now regularly uses bug spray on her children before they go to the park, and applies it to herself as well. She found this amusing, as she wasn’t raised with that habit, but she’s changed her approach due to concerns about the risks of insect bites and diseases.
Now that Jessica has clarified things about this rumor, here’s a look at other celebrities who have debunked conspiracy theories about themselves.

In June 2024, athlete Jason Kelce jokingly responded to a fan’s comment on social media, tweeting, “What kind of weirdo washes their feet…?” The fan had observed that Kelce appeared to not wash his legs or feet.
The retired Philadelphia Eagles player later doubled down on his comments.
On his podcast, New Heights with his brother Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes joked, ‘What kind of person washes your feet?’ He then added, ‘I’ll even scrub off any visible dirt.’

More than ten years after actor Kristen Stewart shared a story about witnessing a clown’s death in a car explosion at the circus when he was a child, he confessed that the story was fabricated.
Robert remembered telling The New York Times Style Magazine in December 2024 that he reacted with complete surprise, saying, ‘What on earth? Are you possessed?’
As for what he said during the 2011 Today interview promoting his film Water for Elephants?
He explained that one of the clowns had died in an accident. Their small car exploded while they were performing, and it was a very frightening experience for everyone involved. People immediately ran to safety.

Grandma knows best.
In an October 2022 episode of The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian shared a personal story about how her grandmother, Mary Jo “MJ” Campbell, unexpectedly played a role in a private moment with her then-boyfriend, Pete Davidson.
Kim Kardashian told MJ, Kris Jenner, and Khloé Kardashian that she and Pete Davidson were at the Beverly Hills Hotel last weekend. They were chatting by the fireplace for hours, and she remembered something her grandmother had told her: that having sex in front of a fireplace is a way to truly enjoy life. So, they decided to do it as a tribute to Kris.
Grandma’s reaction? A nod of approval.
Kim jokingly remarked, “It’s weird to think about your grandmother right before being intimate, right?” MJ responded with a laugh, “I know, but everyone has a past!”

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have a very close family with their two children, 8-year-old Wyatt and 6-year-old Dimitri, and their love for each other is limitless.
So much so, that the Black Swan actress revealed they keep an open-door policy at home.
She told TopMob News in September 2022 that this even extends to the bathroom. She explained it’s become normal for her family, including the kids, to openly discuss and accept natural bodily functions.
Mila explained she decided to leave the door open because her family kept asking to come inside. She said she finally thought, ‘Oh well, I’ll just let them in,’ and left it open.
Pre-kids, she might not have imagined she’d flush that particular boundary away.
You know, it’s funny the things you realize about yourself after becoming a mom. I used to be fiercely private, absolutely needing my space, even for the most basic things. Honestly, I never imagined I’d be someone who could just… not close the bathroom door! There’s a little person constantly wanting to be with you, and suddenly, personal space takes on a whole new meaning. It’s a humbling and hilarious shift, and it really shows you how much things change when you become a parent.

Okay, so this might sound a little crazy, but Jennifer Garner shared a story about filming The Kingdom back in 2007, and it’s pretty wild! Apparently, during a fight scene, she actually bit someone – and not just a little nibble! She literally bit off more than she could chew, as she put it. I’m a huge fan, and even I was surprised to hear that!
Jennifer described a scene with Sala Baker where director Pete Berg instructed her to attempt to realistically fight for her life. She explained they hadn’t rehearsed much, and Berg told her to do whatever it took to survive.
She continued, explaining that they both jumped into action, and she ended up climbing onto his back. She even bit his ear – they have a photo to prove it, showing a piece of it missing! They weren’t messing around.

Ghouls just want to have fun.
During an October 2022 episode of The View, the hosts were discussing a woman who claimed her home was haunted by sexual ghosts. This led Sara Haines to ask a surprising question: Could someone actually get pregnant from a sexual encounter with a ghost?
Luckily, Joy Behar, her co-host, chimed in with a humorous response: “I’ve had encounters with ghosts and never gotten pregnant.”
“I’m going to leave that comment as is,” Whoopi Goldberg responded. “I’m not sure everyone heard what Joy said, but I’m choosing not to address it further.”

Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb are very close friends, but Hoda recently learned something surprising about her co-host on Today. While preparing for an episode of Today with Hoda and Jenna, Hoda found out that Jenna never wears underwear.
Hoda Kotb recounted a funny moment from a November 2022 episode of Today with Hoda and Jenna. She explained that they both needed to quickly change outfits and had to return to the dressing room. While there, Hoda realized Jenna Bush Hager doesn’t wear underwear.
Jenna’s rationale? Well, no underwear might just be more convenient to her.
She explained that the style creates a more flattering shape and also makes packing easier, adding that there are many other benefits as well.

Looks like someone hasn’t been keeping up.
Britney Spears related to a popular line from Keke Palmer – “He could be walking down the street, I wouldn’t know a thing” – and confessed she wasn’t familiar with Pete Davidson or Scott Disick.
Britney shared a funny video from March showing Pete Davidson – who was dating Kim Kardashian at the time – and Kourtney Kardashian’s ex, Scott Disick, having a night out. She said the video had her laughing a lot.
Britney apologized for sharing the post, explaining she didn’t know the people in the video but found it hilarious. She has since deleted the original post.

Before Chris Evans became famous as Captain America and was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2022, Jana Kramer dated him and thought he was a charming and handsome guy.
The singer shared on her podcast, Whine Down with Jana Kramer, that this happened over ten years ago. She doesn’t remember exactly how many times they went out, but she clearly remembers the last time they saw each other.
Jana, who was around 26 at the time, said Chris asked her to come over when he had some friends visiting from Boston.
Jana recalled that the last thing she remembered was her partner going to the bathroom right after she’d gone, noting that eating asparagus can change the smell of urine. They didn’t spend the night together. He stayed up late with friends, and the next morning, Jana left his house feeling embarrassed – what she jokingly called the ‘asparagus walk of shame’.
She added, “I never heard from him again.”

Not all of these confessions are amusing.
In December, television writer Elisabeth Finch confessed that she had fabricated a story about having a rare bone cancer. She originally shared this false diagnosis with ELLE magazine eight years prior, and it even became the basis for a plotline on Grey’s Anatomy.
Elisabeth recently shared with The Ankler newsletter that a lie she told at age 34 was the biggest regret of her life. She explained the lie grew over time and became a heavy burden. She also clarified that she has never been diagnosed with cancer.
Finch, who was temporarily removed from his position on the ABC medical show before ultimately quitting, admitted, “I messed up badly. It was completely unacceptable, and I take full responsibility.”

Beauty is pain, but Kim Kardashian might be able to stomach it.
The reality star told The New York Times she’d consider almost any procedure to look younger, joking that she was open to trying anything.
She admitted in June that she’d even consider something drastic – like eating something truly unpleasant every day – if it meant looking younger. She emphasized she was serious, saying, ‘I just might.’
In a July 2022 interview with Allure, Kim explained she was mostly joking when she made the comment, but admitted it wasn’t a completely awful idea.
Kim admitted, after some thought, that she’d likely do almost anything for youth, even something disgusting. She said she’d probably eat something truly awful, like a bowl of poop, if someone promised it would make her look younger, as long as she ate it every day.
She wasn’t sure how much she could eat. “Maybe just a bite,” she said, adding, “I don’t think I could manage a whole bowl.”

Jelly Roll could’ve used some saving from himself.
During an April 2025 interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the singer behind “Save Me” shared a particularly embarrassing story, and he didn’t shy away from the details.
“I pooped myself one time,” he admitted. “I did, I’m sorry.”
To be honest, Jelly Roll (whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord) didn’t intend to cause such serious harm.
He firmly believed it was just a misunderstanding. “I sincerely apologize,” he said. “I saw the audience turn from supportive to completely against me.”
