Jessie J has offered more details about her emotional encounter with Kate Middleton.

Jessie J recently revealed what she and Princess Catherine—both having experienced cancer—discussed when they met at the Royal Variety Performance in London last November.

During a recent interview with Good Morning America, Jessie remembered the woman simply saying, ‘Thank you.’ She continued, ‘She acknowledged that I’d been through a difficult period, and I told her I knew she had as well.’

The 37-year-old, who shares a 2-year-old son named Sky with her boyfriend Chanan Colman, went on to say that she told the other woman, ‘I want you to know that as one mom to another, and as one cancer survivor to another, I understand what you’re going through and I’m sending you support. Can I give you a hug?’ The woman happily accepted, and she was thankful for the gesture.

In January, Kate announced that her cancer is in remission after undergoing several months of chemotherapy. She first publicly shared her diagnosis in March 2024. Kate and her husband, Prince William, are parents to three children: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.

Jessie, who announced in June that she had a mastectomy for early breast cancer, surprised some by hugging Kate. She later shared that she had been advised against physical contact, but chose to hug the princess anyway.

The singer of “Price Tag” shared on This Morning on December 3rd that she felt compelled to hug another mother who has openly discussed her battle with cancer. She explained she understood what that mother might be going through and wanted to offer support, simply as one mother to another, and one person to another.

She explained that while she recognized the woman as the Princess of Wales, she tried not to treat her differently and remained respectful.
