Jessie J Reveals Where She & Channing Tatum Stand 5 Years After Split

Jessie J can’t put a price tag on this relationship.

Jessie J shared that she and her former partner, Channing Tatum, have a positive relationship now, even though they ended their relationship in 2020 after dating for just over a year.

Jessie described Channing as a very kind person in a recent interview with The Guardian, saying, “He’s so sweet! Oh my God, yeah, he really is!”

The 37-year-old added, “We were such good friends and had such a good time together.”

She even contacted him while writing her song “Complicated” for the album Don’t Tease Me With a Good Time, a song inspired by their relationship and his 2012 movie Magic Mike.

“I played him the song to see if he’s OK with it,” she shared, “and he was.”

In her song, Jessie asks if she’ll ever forget meeting someone like ‘Magic Mike,’ noting that it’s become a widely discussed and sensational topic.

The way their relationship always seemed to be the main news story reflects how Jessie felt while they were together – she believed Channing was the more famous of the two during their romance.

The singer of “Domino” said it was upsetting because all the articles she read focused on another person instead of her own work.

Even after they split up, people are still fascinated by their relationship, and many believe her recent song, “Threw It Away,” is about him – the actor from 21 Jump Street.

“I think that played a small part,” Jessie admitted. “But it wasn’t solely about him.”

Jessie explained that the song, with lines like “Don’t you dare rewrite the story / I’m the beauty, you’re the beast,” actually reflects on her dating experiences while she lived in Los Angeles.

Oh my gosh, she told this story and it just kills me! Apparently, guys were constantly offering her rides on their motorcycles, saying they’d show her around LA. But then, like, they’d just ditch her! Can you believe it? She said that’s the worst part of living in LA – all these promises and then…nothing. It’s so frustrating, and honestly, it just makes me love her more that she dealt with that and still shines!

When Jessie and Channing separated, a source shared with TopMob News that the split was friendly. They did attempt to get back together and try to make their relationship work, but ultimately decided they were better suited as friends.

After splitting up, Jessie started dating basketball player Chanan Colman in 2021, and they had a son named Sky in May 2023. Meanwhile, Channing, who already has a 12-year-old daughter named Everly with his former wife Jenna Dewan, got engaged to Zoë Kravitz in 2023, but they ended their relationship a year later.

They are definitely not getting back together. However, with all the recent interactions – birthday celebrations, affectionate hugs, and even playfully acting out a romantic scene in a virtual reading of Fast Times at Ridgemont High – it feels like they’re just teasing everyone who hoped they’d reconcile.

It takes a certain level of confidence to playfully tease your ex on his own show. That’s exactly what Sarah did when she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show to promote her new series, I Love You, America. She jokingly ribbed Jimmy about his wife, Molly Kimmel, saying, “It’s not fair! She gets the updated, more aware Jimmy. I only got the Jimmy from The Man Show.”

Honestly, it seems like some people are still more affected by this relationship than those who were directly involved. When Anna—who is now married to Michael Barrett—learned that Pratt was getting married to Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019, she actually offered to perform the ceremony. She even sent a gift when their daughter, Lyla, was born in August 2020. A source told TopMob News that Anna was “very supportive” and excited for her son, Jack, to have a little sister.

Lenny Kravitz and his ex-wife, actress Zoë Kravitz’s mother, described their relationship as a close, familial bond – what he called “best friends” in a 2013 interview with Oprah Winfrey. Despite their divorce and her subsequent marriage to and split from Jason Momoa in 2020, they maintain a happy, connected family dynamic. As Lenny put it, it’s a beautiful example of what’s possible when people prioritize positive relationships.

Since the Dancing With the Stars co-host and his former hockey player partner separated in 2020, they’ve consistently shown everyone they remain friendly.

When Brooks announced he was getting married to Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir in December 2024, Julianne publicly shared her excitement. She posted on Instagram, wishing the couple a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and fun adventures as they start this new chapter together.

The couple ended their five-year relationship in July 2016. The singer later shared on Howard Stern’s radio show in October that she remained very close to her ex, describing him as both a former lover and a long-time friend.

“We love each other,” she said. “That’s it.”

Even years after The Office ended in 2013, the chemistry between its stars remained obvious, and Mindy Kaling understands why fans still hope they’d get together. She explained to Good Housekeeping in 2019 that choosing him to be godfather to her children felt natural, adding that he’s become more like family than just a friend.

Okay, so Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson finalized their divorce way back in 2011, but honestly? They’re amazing at co-parenting their son, Bronx! Pete has even said Ashlee is an awesome mom, and it just warms my heart to see them putting Bronx first. They really seem to make it work, and it’s so sweet!

It sounds like she’s moved on from her past relationship with the singer. He’s stated they’re currently on good terms and remain friendly, describing their connection as a positive one.

Jennifer and her Dexter co-star first met while working on the show in 2006, and their relationship became romantic two years later. Even after their divorce in 2011, Jennifer has said they remained friendly and supportive of each other.

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore are famously friendly exes, and their daughters – Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout – have helped them maintain that bond. So, it wasn’t surprising when they decided to quarantine together in Idaho during the pandemic. Sounds like they even had some fun, maybe with a dance party!

Even four years after their 2014 split, Jennifer Lopez continued to praise her ex-husband, the father of her twins, Max and Emme. In a 2018 interview on Sunday Today, she explained that Marc Anthony had been a significant source of confidence for her during their marriage. He constantly reminded her of her vocal talent, saying, ‘You’re a great singer. Don’t ever let anybody tell you you’re not.’ Lopez deeply respected him and considered him one of the greatest singers ever.

Despite facing personal challenges, the actress remains supportive of her ex-husband and former Scream colleague. Eight years after their 2010 divorce, she described it as a relatively amicable split while appearing on Running Wild With Bear Grylls. She also emphasized their successful co-parenting relationship with their daughter, Coco.

Although their relationship ended in 2007, they still had great chemistry on screen when they starred together in the 2011 film Bad Teacher.

He also spoke about his connection with Jennie, explaining, “People enter your life for a reason, and relationships evolve. Just because you’re no longer together doesn’t mean you can’t still care for each other.”

Even though they unexpectedly separated in September 2012, the couple publicly acted as though they were still together for the sake of their children. In a 2014 interview with Howard Stern, she explained that she and Will remained very close friends and were successfully co-parenting. She didn’t view their ten-year marriage as a failure, believing that all relationships face challenges.

The Grammy-winning artist and her ex-husband, who officially divorced in January 2024, have stayed friendly and are successfully co-parenting their son, Hayes. They even live only five minutes apart, making it much easier to share parenting responsibilities.

“Our stops are really easy,” Maren told The Zoe Report in May 2025, “and we’ll have family dinners.”
