Jim Carrey is being eyed to star in a live-action remake of an iconic cartoon.
Jim Carrey is famous for his roles in popular comedies like *Ace Ventura: Pet Detective* and *Dumb and Dumber*, as well as acclaimed films such as *The Truman Show* and *Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind*. More recently, he’s become known to a new generation for playing Dr. Robotnik in the *Sonic the Hedgehog* movies, including the 2024 release, *Sonic the Hedgehog 3*.
What cartoon is being made into a live-action movie with Jim Carrey?
According to TheWrap, Jim Carrey is in talks to star in a live-action movie based on The Jetsons, which Warner Bros. Pictures is developing.
The Jetsons, created by Hanna-Barbera Productions, first aired on ABC in 1962. It was designed as a futuristic take on The Flintstones, and the show followed the everyday lives and comical adventures of the Jetson family – George, Jane, Elroy, Judy, and their dog Astro – as they navigated a world filled with robots, aliens, and other high-tech challenges. George was voiced by George O’Hanlon, Jane by Penny Singleton, Elroy by Daws Butler, Judy by Janet Waldo, and Astro by Don Messick.
I’m really excited about the possibility of Jim Carrey playing George Jetson in the new movie! It sounds like he’s seriously being considered for the role, but everything is still in the very early stages, and nothing is official yet. We’re all hoping it works out!
Colin Trevorrow is being considered to direct a new film and is collaborating with Joe Epstein on the screenplay. He’s known for directing the ‘Jurassic World’ movies – ‘Jurassic World’ (2015) and ‘Jurassic World Dominion’ (2022) – and also contributed to the writing of ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’. He was originally set to direct ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ but was later replaced by J.J. Abrams. Trevorrow’s other directing credits include the 2004 documentary ‘Reality Show’, ‘Safety Not Guaranteed’ (2012), and ‘The Book of Henry’ (2017).
Details about the upcoming live-action Jetsons movie are still being kept secret. There’s no confirmed release date yet.
