Jimmy Kimmel is returning to TV.
ABC announced that *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* will return on September 23rd. This comes six days after the show was put on hold because of comments Jimmy Kimmel made about Charlie Kirk.
The network announced on September 22nd that it had paused production of the show to prevent making a difficult national moment even more upsetting. They explained the decision was made because certain remarks felt inappropriate given the current climate.
ABC and Jimmy Kimmel recently had extensive discussions about the original plan for the show. According to the network, these conversations led to the decision to reschedule the show for Tuesday.
ABC confirmed on September 17th that Jimmy Kimmel’s show would be temporarily paused. This came two days after the 57-year-old host spoke about the discussion surrounding Kirk’s death and the person believed to be responsible, Tyler Robinson.
Jimmy Kimmel said on September 15th that supporters of Donald Trump, often called the ‘MAGA gang,’ are working hard to distance themselves from the person who allegedly attacked Charlie Kirk, and are attempting to use the incident to their political advantage.
Twenty-two-year-old Robinson surrendered to authorities on September 12th and was arrested. He’s been charged with the murder of 31-year-old Kirk, which occurred during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10th.
After Robinson’s arrest, officials shared text messages they said he sent, claiming he targeted Kirk because he’d “had enough of his hatred.”
Before Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the air, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr strongly criticized Kimmel’s monologue, calling it extremely inappropriate. Carr also stated the FCC could potentially punish ABC and its parent company, Disney, by revoking the licenses of local ABC stations.
Shortly after, Nexstar Media Group-a company that owns over 200 TV stations across the U.S.-said its ABC stations would stop showing *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* starting with the episode airing on September 17th, and for the time being. ABC then decided to cancel the show completely.
Before his show on September 15th, Kimmel released a statement about Kirk Douglas’s passing, and included a message to the country.
He posted on Instagram on September 10th, asking people to stop blaming each other and simply acknowledge that shooting another person is terrible and shocking.
The comedian, a father of four himself, also expressed his sympathy to Kirk’s family, including his wife, Erika Kirk, and their two children.
He also shared his family’s heartfelt sympathy for the Kirks and everyone affected by the tragic gun violence, especially the children and their parents.

The former president, speaking for himself and Michelle Obama, expressed his deepest sympathy to Kirk’s family and friends.

The former vice president said she and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were very upset to learn about the death of Kirk, who helped start the conservative organization Turning Point USA.
Harris shared on X that he and Doug are thinking of Charlie Kirk and his family. He strongly stated that violence has no place in American politics and condemned the recent act, urging everyone to work together to prevent further violence.
The political commentator became emotional as she recalled her experiences working with Kirk at Turning Point USA and throughout their years of knowing each other.

Donald Trump Jr., age 47 and son of the former president and the late Ivana Trump, shared a heartfelt and lengthy tribute detailing his strong relationship with a person named Kirk.

Following Kirk’s passing, the former View host made it clear she condemned the act of violence.
Alongside a photo of Kirk speaking before the incident, she posted on Instagram, “Absolutely not-don’t resort to violence-this is completely unacceptable.”
Bill Clinton, the 42nd U.S. president, expressed both sadness and anger upon learning about Charlie’s death.
In a post on X, Hillary Clinton expressed hope that everyone will take time to reflect and work harder to discuss important issues with both strong feelings and respect for others. She and Bill Clinton are also sending their thoughts and prayers to Erika, her two children, and the entire family.
The reality TV star said she felt numb after learning her close friend, Kirk, had died.

President Biden posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, calling for an end to something unspecified. He also shared that he and his wife, Jill Biden, are sending their thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Charlie Kirk.
After the tragedy, the former POTUS spoke out against the violent attack.
In a statement, Bush explained that this occurred on a college campus – a place where the free exchange of different viewpoints is essential. He stressed the need to reject violence and harsh language in public discourse, and emphasized that people with different political beliefs aren’t opponents, but fellow Americans.
He added, “May God bless Charlie Kirk and his family, and may God guide America toward civility.”
