2025’s Venice Film Festival saw an uncommon appearance by the Academy Award-winning actor and star of “The Social Network” on a date night, gracing the red carpet for the premiere of “The Sound of Hind Rajab” on September 3rd.

At the event, Joaquin, aged 50, maintained an elegant appearance in a complete black suit accompanied by black dress shoes. He was standing beside Rooney, age 40, who looked striking in a black, strapless minidress and high heels that complemented her attire.

During a moment, the actor portraying the Joker affectionately placed his arm around his partner’s waist. This couple, who had co-produced The Voice of Hind Rajab alongside Brad Pitt, stood together with the film’s writer and director Kaouther Ben Hania, as well as actors Motaz Malhees and James Wilson.

Not only did Joaquin and Rooney create a stir while attending the red carpet event, but following the screening of the 2025 drama about a young Palestinian girl who lost her life during the Israeli invasion of Gaza, the entire cast and crew were greeted with an extended 21-minute standing ovation by the audience.

Indeed, Joaquin and Rooney, parents to four-year-old River and a baby whose name hasn’t been disclosed (born in 2024), have demonstrated their partnership is more than successful through not just bringing “The Voice of Hind Rajab” to life, but also by revealing how they recognized their relationship was truly extraordinary.

In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2019, Joaquin stated, “She was the only woman I ever researched on the internet,” sharing this two years after the public began to notice their romantic involvement. He explained, “We were just friends, correspondents through email. It was something I’d never done before – reaching out to a girl online.

As they embarked on their shared parenthood experience, Rooney felt deeply grateful for having the opportunity to create a family with her long-time partner.

In a 2021 open letter published on FarmSanctuary.org, the actress expressed that welcoming her baby boy, River, has expanded her life with a sense of optimism and an even stronger resolve to foster a gentler, eco-friendly world. She feels deeply grateful for the opportunity to nurture her son in accordance with nature’s design.
