Jodie Whittaker looks ahead to Doctor Who future: ‘I wouldn’t hesitate to come back’

Things have been uncertain for Doctor Who fans recently, but one thing is clear: Jodie Whittaker still deeply loves the show.

While fans await news about the show’s return, Jodie Whittaker has been thinking about her recent performance as the Thirteenth Doctor and what comes next.

She was thrilled to be able to wear her costume again. Returning for Ncuti Gatwa’s regeneration and the season finale felt wonderful, like coming home, even though the studio and the TARDIS itself were new.

The actress, appearing with Suranne Jones in the new drama *Frauds*, expressed her hope to revisit the role many years from now, saying she’d be delighted to return decades later.

“Being able to return to Doctor Who is pure joy,” she explained to The Times. “If I were asked in twenty years to write an episode featuring the Thirteenth Doctor’s return, I wouldn’t even think twice.”

The future of Doctor Who is still uncertain, but producer Jan Tranter recently stated that Disney doesn’t need to commit to more seasons until after the spin-off, ‘The War Between the Land and the Sea,’ airs next year. Disney co-produces the show with the BBC.

As a huge Doctor Who fan, I was so relieved to hear Kate Phillips, the BBC’s Chief Content Officer, speak at the Edinburgh TV Festival! She basically confirmed that Doctor Who isn’t going anywhere – it’s staying on the BBC, no matter what happens with Disney. It’s great news after all the uncertainty we’ve had lately.
