Jodie Whittaker reveals which Doctor Who story she would love a sequel to – and which villain she would have loved to have faced

Jodie Whittaker has shared which ‘Doctor Who’ episode she’d like to revisit with a follow-up story, and also mentioned which villain she wished she’d had the chance to battle.

Jodie Whittaker, known for playing the Thirteenth Doctor on television from 2018 to 2022, is continuing her adventures as the time-traveling Doctor in a new series of audio dramas called The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures, which started releasing in July 2025.

In a recent video on the Big Finish Productions YouTube channel, the actress said she’d love to revisit a story featuring the Pting – those adorable but annoying creatures. She imagines a sequel showing the chaos they could cause, recalling how troublesome they were for anyone traveling in metal spaceships. She’d enjoy another episode centered around them.

When asked about potential future audio villains she’d like to face, Jodie Whittaker immediately mentioned The Master, praising Sacha Dhawan’s performance. She particularly expressed a desire to have battled Missy, believing that confrontation would have been amazing.

The latest installment of the Thirteenth Doctor audio adventures, called ‘Ride or Die,’ came out on Tuesday, January 13th.

This episode, penned by Rochana Patel, takes place between seasons 12 and 13 of the series. It features The Doctor trying to rescue Yasmin Khan (played by Mandip Gill) from a perilous situation.

The Doctor and Yaz have received a mysterious list of coordinates, each leading to a place and time where people are vanishing. They’re now trying to figure out why these disappearances are happening.

The Doctor follows a path to a world devastated by war, where forced human soldiers fight against the frightening Banshee creatures. Can she stop the fighting before something terrible happens to her closest companion?

Doctor Who’s Jodie Whittaker reveals regret about how she played Thirteenth Doctor

As a lifelong Doctor Who fan, it was really heartwarming to hear Carole Ann Ford, who played Susan Foreman in the very first episode, publicly asking for a missing classic story to be found. She simply said, ‘Let us have it back,’ and honestly, I couldn’t agree more! It’s a piece of television history, and it would be amazing to be able to watch it again.
