As a die-hard fan, I’d express it like this: I truly believe that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon strive to maintain a strong co-parenting relationship, not just for themselves, but most importantly, for the sake of their precious 14-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan.
During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar U.K., Mariah shared her thoughts on the matter: ‘I want to ensure I always treat the situation fairly because it can be challenging for kids to grow up with divorced parents.’
Nick Cannon, however, seems to have reservations about the term ‘co-parenting’. He expressed his views on his podcast, Nick Cannon @ Night: ‘The label “co-parenting” I’ve always had some issues with it, because why do we need a ‘co’? We’re just parenting.’
Despite fathering twelve children with six different women, Nick makes sure to handle each of his parenthood roles individually. He shared: ‘I haven’t mastered it yet, but I always approach every situation with respect, compassion, and individuality.’
Joe Jonas, on the other hand, considers Sophie Turner, mother to their daughters Willa (5) and Delphine (3), among his top choices for parenting inspiration. As he shared during a July episode of The School of Greatness podcast, “My children have some fantastic women they can look up to, and one of those is their mom.” The Jonas Brothers member emphasized the significance of his cooperative parenting relationship, which he values highly.
However, Sophie acknowledges that reaching this level of harmony took time following their public divorce and custody battle. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in 2024, she expressed, “We’re making our best efforts for our children.” She continued, “We co-parent, and I believe we’re doing quite well at it. This year has been challenging for us, but it takes time to mend what’s been broken. I’ll do whatever it takes to ensure my kids always have a mother and father who are there for them, whether together or apart.”

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green have extensive experience in co-parenting, having three children together: Noah, Bodhi, and Journey. They strive to follow a crucial rule: prioritizing the wellbeing of their kids above all else.
In an interview with TopMob News in 2024, Brian explained that the top priority should always be ensuring everything revolves around the children’s experiences. A breakup, he said, will naturally impact the kids, and the only control one has is over how it affects them. An essential part of this, according to Brian, is knowing when to choose one’s battles.
He added that it’s crucial to recognize that, since they separated for a reason, continued agreement may not be realistic in co-parenting. As such, the focus should shift from getting along to effectively raising their kids together.
Megan, who divorced Brian in 2022 two years after filing, concurs with this approach. In a 2023 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, she emphasized the importance of never disparaging or making passive-aggressive comments about the other parent when their children are around. According to Megan, if she doesn’t accept and love her ex-husband, she is rejecting a part of her children because he plays a significant role in their lives. He’s in their DNA, their psyche, and an essential aspect of who they are as individuals.
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but gush over the beautiful bond shared by Josh Duhamel and Fergie, especially in their roles as co-parents. In a 2023 episode of The Jess Cagle Show, the dashing star from Safe Haven spoke about Fergie with such admiration, praising her for warmly welcoming his new wife Audra Mari into their family circle. He acknowledged that things could have been more challenging, but emphasized that he’s grateful for their civil and amicable situation.
Josh shared that when he and Audra announced they were expecting their first child together, Shepherd, Fergie was overjoyed. The arrival of baby Shepherd in January 2024 added a new member to the family, joining Axl, Josh’s son with Fergie from her time in the Black Eyed Peas.
What touched me the most was when Josh emphasized that despite their divorce being finalized in 2019, two years after they announced their separation, Fergie continues to show nothing but kindness and love towards Audra. He expressed his gratitude for this peaceful situation, having witnessed and lived through less fortunate scenarios. Truly, the love between these remarkable individuals is something to behold!
Irina Shayk, who is the mother of daughter Lea with her former partner Bradley Cooper, finds the term “co-parenting” confusing. As she explained to ELLE in 2021, when she’s with her daughter, she’s fully a mother, and when Lea is with her father, he’s fully her dad. To her, co-parenting is simply parenting.
Despite their split in 2019 after four years together, Irina and Bradley have managed to maintain a positive relationship. Even with their busy schedules, they’ve continued to go on family vacations, spend time in New York, and support each other since their breakup.
In 2023, Irina praised Bradley as the “best father Lea and I could dream of.” According to her, their relationship works because they make it work.
In my own words, much like Mariah Carey sings about love taking time, finding a rhythm in co-parenting can also require patience. Yet, Nick Cannon, who shares twins Moroccan and Monroe with Mariah, seems to have found a good balance and routine in our co-parenting journey.
On an episode of ‘The Language of Love with Dr. Laura Berman’ in 2022, Nick mentioned that we co-parent exceptionally well, sharing that we’ve become great friends and he’s learned so much from her about family. Mariah appears to be proud of the progress we’ve made since our separation in 2014 and subsequent divorce.
As reported by People in 2019, she acknowledged that Nick and I have done a good job co-parenting, maintaining our friendship to facilitate open communication.
Beyond Moroccan and Monroe, Nick is also father to Zion, Zillion, and Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa; Golden, Powerful Queen, and Rise Messiah with Brittany Bell; Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi; Onyx Ice with LaNisha Cole; and Halo Marie with Alyssa Scott. Additionally, we tragically lost our son Zen with Alyssa.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, who share children Apple Martin and Moses Martin, should certainly be included in our discussion. They are famous for coining the term “consciously uncouple” when they announced their separation in 2014.
On a 2020 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Gwyneth shared that prioritizing their children was challenging but important: “Chris and I committed to putting them first, and that’s harder than it looks.” She added, “Some days, you really don’t want to be with the person that you’re getting divorced from. But if you’re committed to having family dinner, then you do it.”
Gwyneth, who is known for her brand Goop, also stated that she and Chris will always be a family: “That’s how it will be forever…We have this idea that just because we break up we can’t love the things about the person anymore that we loved, but that’s not true.
Following their divorce in 2022, Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady found themselves confronting a fresh hurdle. In an interview with ABC News’ Robin Roberts in 2024, Gisele candidly shared, “Some days are tougher than others,” referring to the children, Benjamin and Vivian, she shares with Tom. She further explained, “They’re clever kids. They know how to maneuver. So, I believe it’s natural that it has its own rules. Kids will test boundaries. All I can do is control my actions.”
As Gisele pointed out, it’s all about finding a balance. She elaborated, “Tom spends time with them, and I do as well. This, I feel, is fantastic for them because they get to experience-and this enriches their lives-two distinct worlds, and they learn from both of these worlds. It’s wonderful for them, I think.”
Tom also offered insights into the co-parenting dynamics between the exes. “I’m trying to raise our children – all of us, myself and their mother – with kindness, empathy, and a broad perspective,” he told TopMob News in 2023. “Our kids are growing up differently than we did, but we want to instill them with the right values.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this:
Ben Affleck, who once played a superhero on the big screen, knows greatness when he sees it in real life. That includes his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares children Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.
In 2016, Ben told TopMob News, “Jen is a superhero mom.” The Oscar winner, whose divorce from the star of ’13 Going on 30′ was announced in 2015 and finalized three years later, expressed his gratitude for Jennifer’s role as a partner in co-parenting their kids. He noted that they strive to put their children first and work together effectively.
Similarly, Jennifer Lopez, who married Ben in 2022 before filing for divorce two years later, agreed. In an interview with Vogue, she called Jennifer “an amazing co-parent” and acknowledged that they work exceptionally well together.
Despite their split in 2021, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have managed to maintain a strong co-parenting relationship for the sake of their daughter Khai. In a 2023 episode of Call Her Daddy, Zayn stated, “Co-parenting is good. We have a really good relationship for Khai. She’s our main priority, so things are going well.” When asked about advice for other parents in similar situations, Gigi shared with The Sunday Times that it’s crucial to always keep the child’s happiness as a top priority. For her, knowing that Khai can spend time with both parents brings great joy.
Khloe Kardashian continues to maintain a cooperative parenting relationship with her ex, Tristan Thompson, despite their tumultuous past. However, she admits that this arrangement isn’t always easy, especially when feelings of anger arise. In an interview with tmrw in January 2024 (as reported by People), Khloe shared, “It’s much harder to act cordial towards someone you’re angry with, especially in front of the kids and say ‘Hi.'” She went on to explain, “Trust me, I don’t feel this way every day. I had to learn to manage my feelings. There were many instances where my emotions took over and I posted or tweeted things that I later regretted. But, in my opinion, I’ll never regret being a considerate person.”
Ultimately, Khloe desires her children to have a strong bond with Tristan, who is also the father of Prince, Jordan Craig’s son, and Theo from his relationship with Maralee Nichols. She stated, “I want my kids to have a wonderful relationship with their father. If we’re fortunate enough to have a father that wants to be present and active in their lives, why would I stand in the way of that?
Despite their divorce in 2013, Orlando Bloom, Miranda Kerr, Katy Perry, and Evan Spiegel maintain a harmonious co-parenting relationship for their son Flynn. On an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show in 2020, Miranda expressed her admiration for Katy, saying, “I’m just so grateful that Orlando and Katy found each other.” She also expressed gratitude for her own husband and the respect they all have for one another. Despite busy schedules and expanding families (Orlando and Katy share a daughter named Daisy Dove, while Miranda and Evan share sons Hart, Myles, and Pierre), they make it a priority to come together for special occasions, always considering what is best for Flynn.
Contrary to some plants like love ferns, Kate Hudson believes that her friendly ties with her exes Chris Robinson and Matt Bellamy don’t have to cease.
In an interview with The Sunday Times in 2022, the actress who starred in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days mentioned that her bond with Chris, Ryder’s father and her former partner, simply requires occasional check-ins.
Regarding Matt, Bingham’s dad, she expressed that he is “exceptional-I couldn’t have hoped for a better co-parent.” In her view, the love one has doesn’t simply disappear; rather, it can transform into a different kind of affection. Sharing time with an ex-partner can be pleasant because the primary focus is on the child’s love.
Kate also shares a daughter Rani with her fiancé Danny Fujikawa. She concluded that even though their family might not seem traditional from an external perspective, internally they are thriving. The blended family of three children with three different fathers forms a remarkably strong unit, which she feels is uniquely theirs.
At times, co-parents may appear as distant celestial bodies, but Anna Faris, who shares son Jack with ex Chris Pratt and his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, has expressed that their relationship has evolved. “We’re all getting much closer,” said the actress in 2022, appreciative of their growing bond. “They’re very protective of me, and I want to be very protective of them. I so appreciate their support.” Faris, who split from Pratt in 2017 and finalized their divorce the following year, even referred to Katherine as “awesome”. The actress praised her for being on top of things and loving how she interacts with Jack. Anna, now married to cinematographer Michael Barrett, expressed satisfaction with how the blended family dynamics have developed. She stated, “It feels just much easier now that time has passed… It feels really good to not live with that internal churning of unpleasantness.
It’s beneficial when ex-partners strive to agree on key matters, and as Mel B acknowledges, it took some time for her and Eddie Murphy to develop such a harmonious partnership.
In reflection of my past, I was in a challenging situation that made it difficult for me to cultivate a strong relationship with Eddie, as I shared in an interview with Us Weekly back in May 2025. Battling PTSD and coercive control, I worked diligently to nurture our bond bit by bit.
Fast forward to today, my friendship with Eddie has blossomed even more than before. Our connection is stronger than ever, as we share our lives, including Angel, my daughter with Eddie.
In fact, Angel often visits Eddie’s home, and they enjoy spending quality time together. They even take trips and vacations together. With ten children under his care, Eddie demonstrates exceptional dedication as a father.
Even though The O.C was filled with drama, that doesn’t necessarily mean Rachel Bilson’s co-parenting relationship with ex Hayden Christensen needs to mirror that. According to People in 2024, the actress shared, “Things are going great. Everything is in a very good state. She (Rachel) is thriving so beautifully and has support coming from all directions.
