Joe Keery Debuts Bleach Blonde Hair Transformation at Golden Globes

Joe Keery has waved goodbye to Stranger Things.

Every ending leads to a new beginning, and it seemed like the 33-year-old was embracing what the future holds as he walked the red carpet at the 2026 Golden Globes. (Check out photos of all the stars here.)

Joe kept his outfit simple for the event, wearing a suit with black pants and a white jacket, allowing his recently dyed blonde hair to be the main focus. Though his hair is now shorter and lighter than when he played Steve Harrington, he still captured the same easygoing charisma as he posed for the cameras.

Although the final season of Stranger Things, which finished in late 2025, wasn’t nominated for any Golden Globes in 2026, everyone involved with the Netflix show was incredibly proud of how it turned out.

Looking back on my ten years with the show, something Joe always emphasized really stuck with me: a project isn’t just about one person’s vision. It’s the incredible teamwork and dedication of everyone involved that truly makes something special. He always said it takes so many hands to bring a story to life, and he was absolutely right.

He mentioned to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on November 27th that around 8,000 people worked on the show. He explained that while viewers focus on the actors and characters, the show’s success is really a tribute to the huge team who dedicated themselves to making it happen.

The artist behind “End of Beginning” is especially pleased with how his character developed over the show’s five seasons. He transformed from a conceited and dismissive student into a sincere, though still occasionally arrogant, member of the team.

Joe said he really appreciated that his character went through a transformation, ultimately recognizing his mistakes. He believes this is particularly relevant today, as there’s a lot of potential for people to make positive choices and do what’s right.

He explained that the show focuses on a diverse group of people who find common ground, and he especially appreciated that the character actively chooses to be part of that community.

Looking ahead, he’ll always remember Steve and the impact he had. He fondly recalls his time, saying, “It was a true pleasure to play for ten years.”
