John Cena is passionate about both acting and professional wrestling, but nothing beats love!
In a heartwarming response to being asked about his top passion between acting and wrestling, the current Head of State and WWE Champion, aged 48, couldn’t help but express his affection for his spouse, Shay Shariatzadeh.
In a chat with Extra on Tuesday, June 24, at the New York City premiere of Heads of State, Cena expressed that his top enthusiasm is for his wife. Without a doubt, she tops the list. I’d say that just slightly below her is my own health, as I aim to maintain it so I can be an exceptional husband to her.
In February 2019, Cena and Shariatzadeh first crossed paths. Exactly a year after that, on Valentine’s Day in 2020, he popped the question during a quiet evening at home. Eventually, they officially became husband and wife in October of the same year.
He expressed on The Howard Stern Show in February 2024 that the proposal was stunning. He had the ring with him to prevent losing it accidentally, and since the moment felt perfect, he decided to ask her then and there. Consequently, he abandoned all his elaborate plans and simply said, “There’s no better time,” because there truly wasn’t – it was still incredibly beautiful, and we were both emotionally open, which made it happen spontaneously right there.
He went on to say that the task could be completed within a span of three months. Admittedly, it may seem unusual, but he noted that she hadn’t expressed disapproval when he inquired about it. However, he was quick to clarify that he wasn’t speaking for her.
Cena previously spoke about his wife in a July 2024 interview with WSJ. Magazine.
When queried about his cherished item, the seventeen-time world champion answered, “My relationship with my wife is my greatest treasure.
In another aspect of his conversation, Cena shared insights about what makes a successful marriage and relationship. He expressed that sincerity, open dialogue, deep affection, appreciation, and being vulnerable have been instrumental in our happiness.
Actor famous for his role as “The Peacemaker” has announced his retirement from professional wrestling with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) this year, marking over two decades of combat within the ring. Yet, he emphasized that he will forever be a cherished member of the WWE family.
He shared with Extra on Tuesday that this is his last year in the WWE and he plans to retire at the end of it. As we’re roughly halfway through, he’s excited about formally concluding his active wrestling career. He will always remain a representative of the WWE, and he intends to continue being a part of their family, unless they ask him to leave.
